Well, it seems like the dust following HF21/22 has somewhat settled -- I say that with the experience that I have now *not* seen some kind of error message in *some* aspect of my activities for 24 hours now.

So I'm cautiously poking my head back out of my metaphorical *"turtle shell"* and deciding that it's *"safe"* to start posting and interacting again.

## *Hardfork = AFK = Mental Health Days!*

I suppose one of the benefits to having been part of this community for a while is the knowledge that it's *almost inevitable* that these updates will cause major disruptions to the way things work around here.

We can get all worked up and stressed out over that... *OR* we can simply take a few *"Mental Health Days"* and step *away* from the damn keyboard and do something productive and fun with our external lives!

Remember that?

*Life* that didn't revolve around checking your posts or the price of Steem every half hour? 

Sometimes I think we forget that we *need to* take time away from the technology in order to remain normal, well-adjusted and happy individuals. Sociologists and psychologists are more likely to talk about our addictions to Facebook and other social media, but Steemlandia is no different, really, *except* for the tendency to tend to rationalize that we're *getting paid* here. 

So what? We're still glued to a screen in hopes of getting less than 20 cents an hour... So get up, and go outside! I did!

## *"Lost" Posts, and Things...*

I did start writing several posts during the outages and errors, and I guess I'll polish those up and send them through now. Because... why not? I've already done the work.

Besides, I'm curious to see how this whole new *"curation emphasis"* is going to pan out, and I'm curious to see how all these various *"Tribes"* will end up settling in.

Maybe I am just a skeptic here, but it strikes me there are just a lot of *cash grabs* happening, at the moment. Which might *"succeed"* in putting money in the pockets of a few people *in the short term* but doesn't seem like it would do a whole lot to help grow a larger community overall... *nor* guide the community towards any sort of mass adoption.

I find myself increasingly looking to old lessons that have *nothing* to do with cryptos or social media, but which established the general truism that *good and legitimate opportunities will decline towards zero value* with time. 

That's a line of thinking — and post — that goes far beyond the scope of this one, but I might write about it someday.

## *Meanwhile, Looking for Focus...*

For as long as I can remember, I have struggled with staying focused on projects I have gotten involved with, *regardless* of whether they have been *"good"* or *"bad."*

In my long writing/blogging "career," the only way I have managed to stay on task has been to create *"regular features"* that publish on a schedule... which is basically a way of creating *"artificial deadlines."* 

What do I mean?

Well, let's say you make a pretty public statement about doing an *"Arts Column"* on Tuesdays... now you suddenly have more motivation for maintaining your blog than merely *"I gotta write something."* And if you're *halfway good* at what you are doing, you start having to serve a reader base who *expect* that content on Tuesdays... and you'd damn better produce the goods!

With the new *"Tribes"* here, we actually now have a bigger *invitation* to pick a category and create relevant content on a regular schedule. That is, if you're actually a *content creator* and not just a *"token harvester."*

'Nuff said...

Anyway... time to get back to something here, and to discover what the *"New(Steem) Normal"* looks like...
