First day of school

We officially have a 10th grader in the house. My daughter started school today and she couldn't be more excited to get out of the house and to be back in school around all of her friends. The schools here closed back in March and everything has been online schooling since then.

I told my daughter that this is most likely temporary and the schools will probably shut back down and go to all online instruction in a few weeks, but at least she is going to get to spend some much needed time to be with her friends. Just about everywhere that schools have already opened here in the US, there have been mass quarantines within the first week or so. So now with the start of the schools here where we live, it will be interesting to see what happens with the covid cases.

For now though, it is nice to see her excited and happy about going back to school. Hopefully it lasts for a while and she is able to get some good instruction in and time with her friends before things change again. 

If you have kids, are you planning on homeschooling or sending them back to school in person? We figured it would be best to just send her back in the school and not try online schooling for now. We wanted her to have as much time with teachers and friends as she can. This stupid virus isn't going anywhere and we have just accepted the fact that it is just a matter of time until we get it.

I'm happy for your little girl (I know in your mind she's still your little girl).  I know I would not have done well with 'remote learning'.  Not the studies, that would have been cake.  But not being around my friends?  Urrrrggghhh.

I may be in a slightly higher risk group than you, and I do everything I can to not get it.  I am a mask wearing machine and wash and sterilize.  That said, I'm guessing I'm going to get it, too.  I either will or I won't.

There is a glimmer of hope in 'herd immunity'.  We seem to be seeing a bit of that right now in Yuma County.  We had an ugly high infection rate for a long time and now are over 20% of population confirmed.  There seems to be a slowing that doesn't really reflect the community, maybe there are just less available to get it.

Who knows?

Your daughter is very beautiful, as beautiful as her father. It's good that she can go back to school, even though she must always take her measurements, wash her hands and stuff. I hope this is something very positive for her, and not a concern for you as parents. Bless!
