I got a new guitar and started lessons

I have been wanting to get a guitar for a long time now and learn how to play. I was finally able to get one yesterday and it is pretty awesome. I took a guitar class back in high school about 22 years ago, so I am a bit rusty at this, but I still remembered a couple chords.

It is a Seagull S6 Acoustic-Electric. It sounds really great and has a built in tuner, so that will help me to be able to make sure that my guitar stays in tune. When I was in school, I had the hardest time trying to keep my guitar in tune because I have the worst ear when it comes to notes. Hopefully as I continue to practice, I will be able to get better at recognizing the notes.

Speaking of practice, I am going to be using an app called TrueFire to teach me. It is a pretty cool app that has thousands of different lessons for all the different styles.

I am doing the Acoustic Guitar Learning Path and starting from the beginning. It has been nice to get a good foundation again and not to just jump ahead into stuff that is too advanced for me right now.

The lessons are pretty in depth and go at a decent pace. It is nice to learn a chord at a time and practice switching between them. I feel that this will be a good way to learn how to play.

One thing I never did learn is to actually read the music while I was playing, so that is cool that this is teaching me to do that. I am learning playing with full notes and quarter notes right now. It will be cool to see where I am at a few months down the road with my musical journey.

The app isn't free and it has a monthly or a yearly subscription model. It is either $30 a month or $249 for the year. I am going to see how this first month goes and if I feel it is worth it, then I will do the annual subscription. I don't mind paying for apps like this because they usually have a lot better content than the free ones or just trying to learn from YouTube. 

I am going to try and post some of the lessons I am doing on ThreeSpeak. I think it will be cool to document my progress over the weeks and months and to be able to look back and see if I am getting any better. Plus it will help to keep me motivated with practicing. I just need to get my camera and microphone set up so that the videos look and sound good as I am doing them. 

Anyways, I am super excited to learn something new. I love music and it is going to be cool to be able to create music. I just have to get my fingers used to playing because the tips of my fingers are pretty sore already.

Nice! Looking forward to hearing some progress. TrueFire is a great resource. I've bought a couple of their courses. You can get so much for free on YouTube, but to have some  structure and a learning path like TrueFire gives is a great way to go.

Oooh nice. Me and my partner both have a guitar. But we were not able to take lessons so far, so we still need to learn to play correctly. And even though I can't really play the guitar now, I still like it, and am determined to learn it someday.

Great! I have started to play guitare the last Christmass when my wife give me one. Fingers do not hurt anymore. I can play already a few chords. 
I do learn from friend and a youtube. 
The app is a good idee i am going to try that as well. Good tip...
