Hi everyone, Welcome back again to my [Splinterlands Share Your Battle Weekly Challenge](https://peakd.com/hive-13323/@splinterlands/share-your-battle-weekly-challenge-legionnairealvar). This Week we have LEGIONNAIRE ALVAR as our theme, one of extraordinary Legendary Monster of Neutral Element from Chaos Legion Edition. However this week I won't pick him, the same reason as last week battle challenge, I do not have any interesting battle involving this extraordinary one.

I am picking this granpa, ALRIC STORMBRINGER as my main heme for this week over that LEGIONNAIRE ALVAR. He is a wild format summoner, and my most favorite summoner when Chaos Legion hasn't released yet. This guy is like an impostor of Gandalf from Lord of The Ring series. I do not know why all movies associate magician as old granpa with long beard, messy hair, and holding long staff.
# THE BATTLE

I pick this battle from one of the tournament, Wild Format All card available. The battle had Heavy Hitters Ruleset and Explosive Weaponry ruleset. I did not have any idea how I should utilize the Heavy Hitters ruleset, however I had an idea how Alric could make my team exploit Explosive Weaponry ruleset, by making a lot of magic fireworks!!!

After my taunt tank, wave brood, dies, I need her to have very high health point, as high as possible because I could not afford non attacking monsters for a Reflection Shield Ability. She will take blast damage alot, and should not die so fast.

However I choose to go with this Mermaid. Let say I gamble everything on magic attacks, and pray I won't meet the like of Torhillo and some anti mage tank backed by Possibilus The Wise
|Fourth|https://d36mxiodymuqjm.cloudfront.net/cards_by_level/reward/Ruler%20of%20the%20Seas_lv3.png|Blast, Swiftness, Silence|His Blast ability will be a waste regarding there is already Explosive Weaponry ruleset. As his name, Ruler of the seas, I believe that he is one of strongest mage I can get from water element and of course the must have in my line up. His swiftness and silence will be a game changer.
|Fifth|https://d36mxiodymuqjm.cloudfront.net/cards_by_level/rift/Water%20Caller_lv6.png|Stun, Reflection Shield|I am doing a small gambling on her. I like her a lot, she has 2 magic damage, and with the help from Alric, it will be 3 magic damage. she is perfect with reflection shield, isolated all blast damage behind. The gamble is on her speed, picking 1 speed is very risky move during Explosive Weaponry ruleset.
|Last|https://d36mxiodymuqjm.cloudfront.net/cards_by_level/chaos/Wave%20Brood_lv5.png|Taunt, Close Range, Void|My trap for isolating blast damage. together with Water Caller, wave brood will try to contain all damage on himself only. He will die first for sure, hopefully won't die useless.
WAlric would have my team launching a firework of magic, blast damage which could not be absorbed by any armor
### Round 1
- This battle started by each parties buffed and debuffed monsters.
- My opponent came with 4 Melee Damage and 14 magic damage, combined all become 18 damages per turn.
- My team had 2 range damage and 16 magic damage. Total damage was 18 damage per turn. Somehow our fire power was equal.
- In general, I had a defensive approach which I set Wave Brood and Water Caller behind. My opponent focused more on offense, he built faster team and had Runi for killing my small monsters.
### Round 2
Round 2 started with almost the same as round 1 condition. nothing changed, their Runi held up all blast damage and my Water Caller did the same too. It looked like a long boring battle.
### Round 3
My Wave Brood got killed in round 2, so Round 3 started with 5 vs 6 condition with advantage on their side. I needed to kill his oshanus a.s.a.p before their Runi started attacking my mermaid.
### Round 4
Now the situation was turned upside down, 5 vs 4 with advantage on my side. With my Oshannus still around, they got pressured because its hard to kill Oshanuss using Magic attack.
### Round 5
Round 5 was the final one, everything ended here. I lost both tanks, Djinn Oshannus and Wave Brood, however all my supports and damage dealers were alive, and they managed to prevent this battle to be a long boring one.
## **Battle Discussion:**
This battle started with both party on equal power and both of us had valid strong formation. Before we go into discussion, actually there were two silly facts about this battle:
1. I forgot I could pick Valnamor. I was too happy I could pick Alric Stormbringer and I really did forget that in this Ghost card Tournament we could pick legendary summoner for free. I bet my opponent was upset seeing his Valnamor team getting beaten out by an Alric Team
2. If one of us using a tank heal ability, this would be a one sided battle. I think both of us were fixated about the Explosive Weaponry ruleset and forgot that there is a Crustacean King who had tank heal ability.
### ALRIC STORMBRINGER IS AN AWESOME SUMMONER
As it said, Alric is awesome however do not compare him to Valnamor. Valnamor is a legendary summoner who is supposed to be stronger than any Rare Summoner. There are two main points why I say he is an awesome one.
#### 1. 3 Mana Requirement.
The current rare summoners need 4 mana for requirement, and old summoners need only 3 mana and this is their competitive advantage. If you think its about 1 mana only, then you might miss the big point here. That 1 mana during certain battle will differ the winner and the loser, because that 1 mana might make you unable to pick certain monster. This will force you to a few monsters with their subtitutes which might not work as good as you have planned before.
#### +1 Magic Damage Buff
I know this sound silly, but Alric is great because he has +1 magic damage buff. What makes this better than Obisdian who has the same +1 magic damage? Silly isn't it...
From this battle challenge, we see that there are many good magician in Water Element that can be super strong and deadly because they are not supposed to get additional magic damage anymore. Check these two weakest monsters in my line up.

Mermaid Healer should be a passive monster. She heals using Triage and strengthen her teammates. However Alric buffs her making her to have 2 magic damage. This changes her from what she should be, a passive one, become something that can kill opponents.
Same goes for Water Caller. She supposes to only have 2 magic damage but Alric buffs her to be a 3 damage hitter. In this battle it becomes crucial because indirectly she delivers 2 blast damage. That's why after my opponent lost their Reflection Shield, all of them suddenly died faster due to higher blast damage.
We still have Venari Wavesmith, River Nymph, and some support monsters who have small magic damages as formality and Alric can turn them to be a heavy damage dealer with his +1 magic damage buff. So it's a great buff for Water Element.
If you haven't tried Wild Format, Try spamming the battle using Alric. You might accidentally get a good winrate.
