I was just discussing with some friends and we all talked about how our Mothers are amazing and how hard the work to keep the family together and make sure that everything is running smoothly at home. The amount of work our mothers put in to make sure everyone is okay is amazing.

As we were talking one of my friends said what about Fathers?  in his words " The deserve some praises too", I laughed and said oh well they don't do half of what our Mothers do. He told me to think back at my childhood up to my teenage years and see if My Father didn't play a significant role in my life. At first it made no sense but when I got home that night I remembered the good time and memories I had with my Father.

I remember when he would stay up late to help me solve my Algebra, some time he would listen to me read one of my fictional story to him and he would always say I was the best writer in the World or when he would come take everyone to go see a movie or have some seafood at a restaurant. While growing I remember not seeing my Dad often because he was always at work, I use to ask Mum if Dad didn't love us but she would reply that he loves us and all He is doing was for us. Anytime he came back he always had a big grocery bag and he will give me and my siblings some candies , one thing was sure we always had food to eat, he would come back some nights with some clothes and sneakers for us, I didn't value all that at the time, but reflecting on my life I now understand what my friend was saying, we do not give our Fathers much credit for the roles the played in our lives . I remember him paying our bill on time and making sure everything we needed was provided. My Dad had three Jobs and yet he never complained of anything,all he did was to make sure we lacked nothing.

He missed my High School graduation and I was mad at him saying he doesn't love me but he was out of town working at a construction site, now I feel I was too hard on him. He made sure my tuition was paid on time When I was admitted into the University, He basically gave me money to go for shopping because he knew I needed a new set of clothes, I felt well he is my Dad and that's his duty. My Dad surely contributed to who I am to day, he may not have cooked, did laundry or even cleaned the house but he was ever present in our lives. He made sure all his six children never lacked anything even my Mum too.

Our Fathers deserve more credit than we give them, they may not be all emotional or give the kind of care our Mothers give, but I know that some of them do love their families and take care of them no matter how hard it is for them. May God continue to bless our Fathers.
