I hate our food production. All fruit and vegetables in the local shops and shopping malls are seemingly from one seller, harvested green to endure long transportation, treated with a rat poison and then served to us like the BEST BUY.
Put it together with the 40 year old frosted beef case and numerous animal products that go by... and you have exactly the situation you plotted above.
I have a feeling that the modern society is geared towards such a bad food in order to get rid of the older population, so when we end up our working years to drop dead as fast as we should from all these sodas and snacks, so that gov doesn't need to pay out our pensions and health case when we turn into an elderly citizens...

I like that, and so true. Organic is just kind of normal food, and "sprayed with X thing" seems actually what should be labeled.

Funny how it would be such a difference psychologically, even amongst people who already know what non-organic is. Like I'm sure I would buy organic way more often if the labels were like that lol

Some people think we need government to manage food labeling and certification, and that it wouldn't exist otherwise. Really it seems clear that they do a rather mediocre job and that there are things that would be improved by a market mechanism, that we just take for granted today.

@diggndeeper  Thanks for the post. While I tend to agree with you, I am going to go out on a limb and say that I think people put too much value on labels and more on certifying bodies that make the regulations. 

Does anyone have a feeling that the world 'organic' doesnt mean anything anymore? Organic frozen tv dinner? Organic asparagus, grown in brazil, irradiated in china, packaged in canada, and sold in New Jersey.  Really???

Once Organic became a regulated set of rules, the big corporate powers hijacked the  whole show, twisted the rules, and green washed their ecologically destructive practices. Now, we can cut down a primary growth, ancient rainforest and grow a handful of soy beans and still call them organic.

I am glad that there is no permaculture grown label. If there was, it would just be the same thing as bi box organic. The real deal is to tap into your local food culture, in your own neighborhood, know your farmers, and buy stuff without packaging!!!

Yeah, if they had to label all the additives and poisons that are on or in the so called food that would make a big difference.

I'm glad I live in the south. I can get 36 farm eggs here for $3.
