It was a Monday morning and I woke up feeling a bit groggy. I ran a quick glance at my table clock which read 7:30am. It was an indication that I was already behind time. I immediately knew it was going to be a long day as I had a lot of errands to run. I quickly got ready and headed out the door, not realizing that I had left my phone charger behind. I realized my mistake only after I got into my car and saw the low battery notification on my phone.

I knew I needed to go back and get my charger, but I was running late already. So I decided to skip some of the calls and just ride my luck. With no time to sit and eat a proper breakfast, I decided to grab a coffee on the way instead. I pulled into the nearest coffee shop and got in line. As I got my coffee and checked my pocket to make payment, I realized that as I rushed out of the house I had forgotten to pick my wallet from the table. I frantically searched my pockets and my bag, to see if I was lucky enough to be with my credit card, but it was nowhere to be found. 

Embarrassed and frustrated, I flashed a sad and beggarly glance at the next guy in line who reluctantly dashed me some money to pay for the coffee. I quickly paid for my coffee and headed out the door, eager to get on with my day. But just as I was about to step out of the door, I heard a tap on my shoulder, it was my supposed helper. 

*"I hope you know you owe me huh?"* my supposed helper echoed

*"I thought it was a gift"* I pleaded

*"I'm no Santa ol' boy"* he replied beginning to sound offended

*"Okay.. Okay.. How will I see you to pay you back?"* I asked as I glanced at my watch

*"Don't worry, I'll find you"* he replied and walked away. 

I wondered what he meant by he would find me. *"Did I just borrow money from a serial killer and stalker?"* I wondered as I rushed back to my car. But as I got back into my car still pondering on the encounter, I tripped and spilled the hot coffee all over my shirt. Letting out a loud groan, I reached for some tissues to clean up the mess.

As I was cleaning up the coffee spill, I realized that the coffee had also spilled on my errand list thereby spoiling the list. As I couldn't remember all the details on the list, I decided to head back home to retrieve the list. As I got to the door, I found out that I had left my keys in the car.

I let out a sigh and walked around to the back of the house to retrieve the spare key. As I unlocked the door and rushed in to get my forgotten items, I tripped on a stray toy left on the floor and fell, scraping my knee. Sitting on the floor dejected, I was starting to feel like this day couldn't get any worse.

But as I sat there, nursing my scraped knee and feeling sorry for myself, I remembered the coffee in my hand. I took a sip and the warmth seemed to be sending the right kind of energy through my body. Suddenly, I felt a bit revived and energized. I took another sip and felt a burst of energy. It felt like the coffee was a fuel to the power source in my system, and was helping me power through my mistakes and my day.

I got up, dusted myself off, and headed back went into the house to retrieve my wallet, phone charger, and list and headed back to my car. I retraced my steps and was finally able to get all my errands done. And through it all, I held on to my coffee like a lifeline, grateful for its comforting embrace.

As the day came to a close, I realized that my error-filled day had turned out to be not so bad after all. And it was all thanks to a simple cup of coffee that had come to my rescue.
