Yes this is probably true that the current security technology available for bitcoin today will be broken by the sheer processing power of quantum computers that will be available in the next 10 years. But in the same sense bitcoin developers can also harness that power to upgrade the security of bitcoin. I believe that bitcoin or cryptocurrency developers already knows this and probably have some idea already on how to upgrade their security.

@discernente - This is only an issue if there's one bad actor and that actor keeps knowledge of the technology totally secret until it's used.  Most likely this will be a state actor and they will use it when under some dire threat.

If everyone has quantum tech, then it will just be like when we moved from graphic card mining to ASIC mining.  The difficulty gets adjusted accordingly in the hashrate.  Then we'll all just be doing Quantum SHA instead of SHA256...
