These two figures are different representations of Etrigan (also known as The Demon), who is one of my favorite DC characters. I first encountered him in the 4-issue mini-series comic by Matt Wagner in the '80s. Wagner is a great writer and artist, and I enjoyed the story and his absolutely fantastic art. This mini-series is what hooked me to the character.

Etrigan was created by Jack Kirby, who created a lot of great characters. In fact, he created an entire universe peopled by what are known as the New Gods. Etrigan would not have caught my attention and interest if I first encountered him in Kirby's works, because I am really not a fan of his art. It sucks!!! But he has a HUGE following, so who am I to judge? 


These two figures are among my favorites in my action figure collection, due in no small part to my interest in the character. The red costume is how Etrigan has originally been depicted; the figure belongs to the immensely popular (or so I was told) DC Universe Classics line made by Mattel. The armored one is a later reimagining of Etrigan in a comic called Demon Knights; this figure belongs to the latest wave of figures made by Todd McFarlane in his DC Multiverse line.
