Many people have had their land destroyed in Maui and homeowners say that they have recently been contacted by developers who are looking to purchase land in what some have described as a predatory attempt to land grab. The governor has suggested that they would be working to make sure that no one would be victimized but it's also been admitted this might be hard to stop. 

Some agents have been colored as <b>vultures</b> who are already allegedly busy working to put forth money offers on one destroyed home after another. There are people in the region who have lost everything, homes, businesses, loved ones, and it didn't take long for some alleged offers to start coming in. Community members have expressed concern about any land grab and about locals losing their properties. They are in a vulnerable position depending on how the fires have impacted them and their current situation.

The fire destroyed and damaged thousands of buildings and early estimates suggest that it might be some $1 billion inflicted in damages or more because of this event. 

Is contacting families in the area so soon after the event <b>taking advantage of the situation</b> as some have described it? The dust hasn't settled and they are already trying to scoop up what they can. Is this what *just good business* looks like? The fears of potential land grabs taking place have grown in recent days and there are stories circulating of buy offers allegedly already going out.

Some legal experts have also already started offering their assistance too, along with volunteers, charity groups and others, in the region. They've been busy helping survivors sort things like insurance claims and answer questions about their property and more.
