Greenwald admits that because he had previously gone through the Snowden reporting and the media circus that was entailed, he is more equipped to deal with what he is going through now. 

The recent charges against Greenwald have [been described as little](https://thefederalist.com/2020/01/27/the-charges-against-glenn-greenwald-are-garbage/) more than complete, tyrannical garbage, that sends a red alert worldwide, signaling an attack on a free press. 

Snowden has suggested that this goes to demonstrate that governments are prepared to effectively <b>stop the presses</b> [if they can](https://www.rawstory.com/2020/01/edward-snowden-warns-targeting-of-greenwald-and-assange-shows-governments-ready-to-stop-the-presses-if-they-can/) to prevent people from learning the truth about their own rulers.

While he might be risking a great deal, Greenwald admits that his work is truly fulfilling for him.

And if you want to confront power <b>inherent in that</b> is that you're going to be subjected to attacks, and risks, and danger. So while it hasn't been easy or fun all the time, it has been very gratifying." - Glenn Greenwald 

Even though Greenwald might criticize the government, *it doesn't mean that he doesn't have a love for the country*. That is an all too common ignorant assumption that is still being made,  when someone hears any sort of degrading commentary about their overlords. 

Greenwald insists that Brazil <b>is a country that he deeply loves</b> and cherishes, and for that reason likely doesn't want to see it degraded by corrupt individuals in positions of public trust and power. His work gives him a sense of pride, Greenwald admits, in knowing [that his journalism](https://twitter.com/jlosc9/status/1220413329539100672) is helping to expose that corruption at the end of the day.

So far there are various public figures, dozens of [rights groups](https://www.commondreams.org/news/2020/01/24/open-letter-brazilian-authorities-40-rights-groups-condemn-attempt-intimidate-and), and others, who have come out in support of Greenwald, condemning the actions that have been taken against him.
