The Worst Time For A Toy Shortage

Some toy companies fear that there might be a toy shortage this holiday season because of COVID-19 and the impact that it has had on the industry. Some of the most in-demand [toys on the market](https://www.radio.com/knx1070/news/national/get-ready-for-a-toy-shortage-due-to-coronavirus-issues) right now are nowhere to be found on the shelves and that is a result of a slowdown [with the overall shipping efficiency on the Coast](https://www.radio.com/knx1070/news/national/get-ready-for-a-toy-shortage-due-to-coronavirus-issues) this year.

Orders from Hasbro and others have been stuck in a sort of limbo this year, as shipping services have experienced [shutdowns and delays](https://allears.net/2020/03/05/baby-yoda-toy-shipments-could-be-delayed-due-to-coronavirus/). There are already anticipated delays for popular Mandalorian toys that were expected to be on the shelves before Christmas.

## Supply shortages and shipping issues have fueled production delays for a variety of products.

And the toy market isn't the only industry seeing items selling out this year or having problems just getting to the shelves. Especially those who are using [local public mailing services](https://www.wsj.com/articles/postal-delivery-delays-trouble-e-commerce-sellers-11597869212) to get the job done, they might have an even longer wait on their goods than someone who went with a private option like Fedex. In most cases they've just had to wait for weeks or months at a time for the goods to arrive, not knowing if or when they might.

A variety of toy factories had to close earlier this year and send employees to work from home, this is already having an impact on the market. Some toy shops, like Build-A-Bear Workshop had to furlough at least 90 percent of their workers and close all stores indefinitely. [Mattel, Rubie's, and](https://www.latimes.com/business/story/2020-02-17/coronavirus-impact-economy-business) others, all did the same this year.

### Production for some toys dropped more than 60 percent earlier this year.

So along with Christmas trees being sold out, parents might also be struggling to find certain toys for their kids this holiday season as well.

This can be seen as a positive, if you view China and Christmas in a negative light.

if children not getting a toy they want for christmas, and thousands of ppl losing their jobs, and stores and factories being closed down, is seen as a positive then that's probably a pretty miserable fkn individual 😂😂

@bewarezionism ·
If a child wants a specific toy, you must ask why. How do they know of this toy? Is this TV? Why are they a target? Who has allowed them to be targeted?
To celebrate Christmas is to celebrate the Gregorian Calendar.
People "losing" jobs equates to freedom.
Chinese factories and their supporting retail oulets closing can be viewed as positive by all but the Communists.
