# Monero XMR is still profitable to mine now, but when will the ASIC threat return?

No-time soon. Although the reward per block is down due to the price falling since our [last Monero XMR Difficulty Watch post](https://steemit.com/monero/@donald.porter/moonero-ddos-attack-and-wownero-clone-or-monero-xmr-difficulty-watch-e4), that shouldn't deter anyone from mining Monero. Two months after the CryptoNight V7 hard fork, we now have the lowest 'Moonero' mining difficulty since December 10th, 2017!
