My Fear of Clowns made into Art and an NFT

**I have always feared clowns.**

Long before Mr. King scared us all or the clown doll in Poltergeist frightened me, they just seemed a bit nefarious.

I then entered a contest (I believe it was back in Steem days) either about clowns or fears, either way those **two concepts lived together in my mind so it really didn't matter either way**

So I addressed my clown fears in a way I found enjoyable: painting "ginger-haired" ladies.

**It started with a sketch**

I could handle her thus, almost a courtesan picturing powdered wigs and the like.

**Then I played with style lines, as I like to do, to get a feel for a thing**

 **This was one the 'creep' started to creep in** for I had to 'paint her face' in a clownish way...even in the drawing lines I felt the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.

**It felt safer now to play with color**
What color would she be, what grease paint and exaggerated expression would this clown wear? There'd be no floppy shoes or honking horn for my clown.

**She was born in all her menacing glory**

Staring into my soul and giving me a 'what for'. But, as I looked at her more , printed her out and hung her on my 'done' corkboard in my studio she sort of grew on me.

Her bold brash hair and burning gaze rather came to haunt me, in a good way. And I'd forgot about her until this past month I was doing the 'sort through things in the studio' game we artists often play and she re-entered my life.

another chance to creep out or draw in someone else, thus with some fun playing around a bit I've made her an NFT on the #nftshowrooms She is not dear to own a mere 25 hive but I've only made 5 of her, I still want her 'creepy beauty' to be rare :)

This is awesome! I love when artists put their raw emotions into their work. Every time I think of a clown I think of a male clown. I never thought about the female aspect of the clown, which sort of brings a sense of comfort to an otherwise creepy thing. I mean where did clouds come from anyhow!? Lol. I like the fact that this clown took on a female role. Should I trust her? That’s still left to be seen. Lol. 

I wrote a post a while back about my fear of water and I also created a photograph representing that fear. I was going to list it as an NFT but so far have not. Don’t know why, just haven’t done it. I’m sure there’s a deeper reason for it. I’m not going to overthink it though. Lol. Either way, I love your version of the clown!

I suppose when I wanted to 'face it down' I just went to my artistic default which is either animal or female form :) It actually sort of got me excited to do a few more.

As #nft are such fun I might make a few more 'lady clowns' just because my fear has turned into fascination, which I suppose those two things probably run pretty close in parallel anyway.

I was the same @bdmillergallery about listing #nft more often, just putting it off, but now I'm just embracing the simple gif animation. I was putting so much work into using my editing software (for video) and going about the hardway (not yet learning the adobe animation stuff) that I've just embraced the simple gif, it's more likely to get me to put up more nft I think. 

I hope you get your water photograph up as nft.

I have never understood this very real fear of clowns, but, know many people that have it. That being said, I find it so odd that they would take that fear and exploit it with movies, books, and the like. 

I know it is what they do, but, I guess I don't understand it.  :/  Seems a little cruel.

On the other hand, I love what you have done with your clown! You just humanized her!! Nice work! She has a softer side!  :)
