How I like to draw: Part 3 - Colors

<b><i>Hello fellow steemians!</i></b>

<i>This is the last part of the mini sequence of posts related to my painting process, you can check the previous articles <a href="https://steemit.com/art/@doodledude/digital-sketch-16">here</a> and <a href="https://steemit.com/art/@doodledude/how-i-like-to-draw-part-2-values">here</a> where I talk separately of every aspect that I think is important in a drawing.</i>

Continuing now with the color process.

<b>1- Basic Colors</b>
As I had suggested in the previous text much of the "heavy work" has already been defined with light and shadow values, at this stage I like to create a separate layer with the "hardlight" filter selected to set the basic colors of my drawing.

<b>2 - Variations</b>
Because variety is the spice of life, in digital painting is also no different ... the use of a few shades of different colors make the image more interesting.

<b>3 - Rendering</b>
From that point I begin to define the details in the painting, I like to start first by the clearest areas.

<b>4 - Refining</b>
Perhaps the most entertaining (and most time-consuming) stage of the painting process is where I like to feel free and explore the widest variety of textures, colors, and volumes depending on the paint.

<b>5 - Finishing</b>
Finally I apply more colors, I adjust some colors with filters ... hue and saturation ... everything that is included in the package, feel free to do experiments!

Hi @doodledude, wondering where you were at, hadn’t seen you enter any contests and such for awhile. Missed your creativity, thought I’d check out what you’re up to. Love this drawing of this awesome unicorn 🦄! Hope you’ll be doing more of these. I’ve learned something with this “ how to” stuff thank you, I’m still learning about what this new Procreate App can do. @Doodledude! Good to see you posting again! Sorry I been so absent yo! Dig this character, nice in-depth look at your thought process and the colouring, your shading is damn epic and use of colour to add textures to make the character seem more believable is fantastic!
