I love to go out, walk and discover buildings with interesting architectural designs, which immediately become eye drops for my eyes and sources of inspiration, I am a faithful admirer of architecture and all constructions made by man in general and if we add to that my passion for photography, it was impossible not to stop for a few minutes to admire this beautiful Adventist church, I did not even know it existed. 

This church is located in the south of the city of Merida, Venezuela, on Galeano Street in the La Parroquia sector.  A sector that is not very popular from the tourist point of view, but that undoubtedly has a lot to offer, especially from the gastronomic point of view.

 Me encanta salir, caminar y descubrir edificaciones con diseños arquitectónicos  interesantes, que se convierten de inmediato en colirio para mis ojos y en fuentes de inspiración, soy una fiel admiradora de la arquitectura y de todas las construcciones realizadas por el hombre en general y si a eso le sumamos mi pasión por la fotografía, era imposible no detenerme por unos minutos a admirar esta bonita iglesia Adventista, que ni siquiera sabía que existía. 

Esta iglesia está ubicada al Sur de la ciudad de Mérida, Venezuela, en la Calle Galeano del Sector la Parroquia.  Un sector que no es muy popular desde el punto de vista turístico, pero que indudablemente tiene mucho por ofrecer, especialmente desde el punto de vista gastronómico.

This Sunday afternoon I was walking with my family through the Parroquia Sector, with the intention of visiting the Aviation Park, from afar, I saw this triangular building that caught my attention. I had not been in this area for a long time, more than a decade by the way, maybe I had seen it before, but the truth is that I do not remember it. 

What caught my attention of this church, was its triangular shape, not every day we are lucky enough to find structures with this type of design, at least not on this side of the world. It was Sunday and I imagine that is why it was closed, as I understand that they offer their services on Saturdays, but for now I am content to admire its beautiful exterior. 

 Its front façade is a beautiful contrast between its geometry and the color of its walls, the white gives it that touch of elegance and the green enhances its design. We see a wooden door frame, whose leaves are made of glass, it is a door with a simple design but at the same time elegant. I like that it has a pointed design as well as its windows. 

Above it, a concrete overhanging balcony. I imagine that on this side is located the mezzanine and next to it, a large metal gate, which is probably the parking lot.  The entire perimeter is protected by a metal trellis, in brown installed on a concrete curbstone with the same color of the frame that surrounds the windows and doors, which gives it a very harmonious visual effect.

Este domingo por la tarde caminaba con mi familia por el Sector la Parroquia, con la intención de visitar el Parque la Aviación, desde lejos, vi esta edificación triangular que llamo bastante mi atención. Hace mucho no transitaba por esta zona,  más de una década por cierto, tal vez la había visto antes, pero la verdad no la recuerdo. 

Lo que llamo mi atención de esta iglesia, fue su forma triangular, no todos los días tenemos la suerte de encontrar estructuras con este tipo de diseño, al menos no, por este lado del mundo. Era domingo e imagino que, por eso, estaba cerrado, ya que tengo entendido que ofrecen sus servicios los días sábados, pero por ahora me conformo con admirar su bello exterior. 

 Su fachada frontal es un contraste hermoso entre su geometría y el color de sus paredes, el blanco le da ese toque de elegancia y el verde realza su diseño. Vemos una puerta en marco de madera, cuyas hojas son de vidrios, es una puerta con un diseño sencillo pero al mismo tiempo elegante. Me gusta que tenga un diseño puntiagudo al igual que sus ventanas. 

Sobre ella, un balcón en volado de concreto. Imagino que de este lado está ubicado la mezanine y al lado de ella, un portón grande de metal, que seguramente es el estacionamiento.  Todo el perímetro está protegido por un enrejado metálico, en color marrón instalado sobre un brocal de concreto con el mismo color del marco que rodea las ventanas y las puertas, lo que le da un efecto visual muy armonioso.

This type of design has always caught my attention, it's incredible to think that the ceiling simultaneously functions as the walls, this one is particularly beautiful. I can imagine a building of this type, in the middle of immense mountains, overlooking the lake, covered with snow in those winter times, creating a dream view.

I love the arrangement of the windows and how they protrude from the roof deck, also in a triangular shape, with wooden frames and glass panes. In the following image we can have an isometric view, from this perspective we can appreciate the beauty of the entire design as a whole, a wonderful contrast, well thought out by its designer, whose name I do not know, but whom I would like to congratulate for his work.

Its roof is made of tongue and groove wood, covered with red asphalt shingles, with small figures, similar to a honeycomb. What does this remind you of? Without a doubt, I think it is the ideal material for this design, asphalt shingles are a material that I really like to see in residential houses, the only thing that bothers me a bit is that over time black spots begin to appear that I imagine are caused by moisture and exposure to the elements.

From the structural point of view, I was able to appreciate that the triangular framework is made up of beams and purlins in a metallic structure, reinforced in some areas with metallic tubes similar to the trusses that we usually see in industrial sheds.

Siempre me ha llamado la atención este tipo de diseño, es increíble pensar que el techo haga al mismo tiempo la función de las paredes, esta es particularmente hermosa.  Puedo imaginarme, una edificación de este tipo, en medio de inmensas montañas, con vista al lago, cubierta de nieve en esas épocas de invierno, creando una vista de ensueño. 

Adoro la disposición de las ventanas y como sobresalen de la cubierta de techo, también en forma triangular, con marcos de madera y hojas de vidrio. En la siguiente imagen podemos tener una vista isométrica, desde esta perspectiva podemos apreciar la belleza de todo el diseño en conjunto, un contraste maravilloso, bien pensado por su diseñador, cuyo nombre desconozco, pero a quien me gustaría felicitar por su obra.

Su techo es de madera machihembrada, recubierto con teja asfáltica en color rojo, con pequeñas figuras, similares a un panal de abejas. A que les recuerda esto?.  Sin duda creo que es el material ideal para este diseño, la teja asfáltica es un material que me gusta mucho ver en casas residenciales, lo único que me molesta un poco es que con el tiempo comienzan a aparecer manchas negras que imagino, son provocadas por la humedad y su exposición a la intemperie.

Desde el punto de vista estructural, pude apreciar que la armazón triangular está constituida por vigas y correas en estructura metálica, reforzadas en algunas áreas con tubos metálicos parecidos a las cerchas que solemos ver en los galpones industriales.

 This is undoubtedly an architectural work that deserves to be appreciated, I was delighted to be able to share this new architectural experience with you, I hope sometime to see its interior and dispel any doubts that invaded my mind regarding its structure. It is a visually aesthetic site and I am sure that being inside it is comforting.
