Quietly, Kik, a chat app geared towards teens, amassed an impressive amount of users, 300 millions, to be precise (according to [this report](http://expandedramblings.com/index.php/kik-messenger-stats/)). While the number is insignificant when compared with Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp or Snapchat, it instantly becomes relevant if you think at it as a market for a new token. 300 millions having access to an internal token, deployed on the Etehreum blockchain, well, that could be disruptive.

That's exactly what Kik plans to do, by launching its own internal currency, called Kin. It's not yet clear when this move will happen, but the landing page announcing this project is pretty neat, with team headshots, advisors and what not.

Of course, there's also your regular wood language and ramblings about decentralization, as this short paragraph proves:

We believe that a broad group of participants can come together to create an open ecosystem of tools for digital communication and commerce that prioritizes consumer experience. As a key player in the chat space, we are compelled to lead the change required to bring a fair and user-oriented model for digital services to the market.

It will be very interesting though to see where this will lead, especially since the vast majority of Kik's user base is made of teenagers, and since its daily engagement is around 50%. When you compare 150 millions daily users with current Steem's user base of roughly 15k daily users, you get some tasty food for thought.
