It's not often I get roped into something fun. Well, maybe I'm exaggerating.

I wasn't supposed to take my daughter to this event but I ended up getting to, along with all the others.

I wasn't entirely sure what the event was supposed to be, the Facebook page made it sound like a full demonstration of Iron working. There was an option to purchase sculpting blocks for the kids and for some reason I thought they were going to be allowed to pour their own.

It turns out that it was less of an educational demo and more of a "watch and figure it out" demo. I'm pretty sure it was just a fundraiser for the local college metal working class. The students were the only ones actually forging any iron.

The kids did carve some blocks (at least four did) and you can see them at the bottom. Then the blocks got put on a cart. We waited patiently and watched the students work. It was definitely awesome to watch the work, but after a few hours in the cold (yes Florida does get cold, my shorts and haraches were no match for the weather today) the kids were beginning to get antsy.

It turns out that we have to wait a few weeks to see the final result. Well darn. I was hoping for instant gratification...
