U.S. Olympic Eventing Team comes to Market Friday

<center>I was invited to be a jump judge for the Mandatory Outing and Preparatory Event for the U.S. Olympic Eventing Team.  I was assigned to two different jumps. I basically cleared the jump safely for both horse and rider. Not all the jumps are visible to all the riders, so clearance needs to be given. This event is a test review day, their last event before they got on the plane and headed to Germany prior to arriving in Japan, where the Olympics will be held this year.</center>

<center>This is the setup for the jumps in the arena, and while you see these horses flying over the rails, or logs, or whatever they have built them for this event, a lot of work goes into training and preparing a horse for this type of competition. I am not sure if you can read it, but, the total distance they have to go is 840 meters and they are allowed 87 seconds, the time limit is 176seconds</center>

<center>*It is hard to tell from pictures just how big the jumps are, but, you can judge by one of them, a full-size flatbed with logs stacked high, just how big they might be. These are not typical cross country jumps, but, used to challenge the team. You can see in one of the pictures how large the Land Rover is.* </center>

<center>As a footnote, I think I have peaked my Olympic career as a judge. The social distancing made it a closed event this year, with only judges and the equestrians entourage. So, this made it a real privilege to be there.</center>

This has inspired me to disclose a story about myself that the blockchain doesn't already know. 

#### I jumped a horse once

That's right. I jumped a horse. Sort of. I got a big run up and took off as fast as I can and when I got close to the horse jumped as high as I could. It was glorious, or would have been had I had leaped higher. Indeed, I did not and slammed right into the side of the horse, stopped dead, and slid to the ground emitting moans and groans of pain along the way. It was, well, it was a disaster...I decided then that my horse jumping days were over. 

The horse wasn't pleased, but that's a whole other story.

Dignity was shattered,...Horse just slightly miffed. A pretty poor situation and an error of judgement for certain. Animal activists were outranged but there was a member of the Olympic Committee there so...Don't be surprised if you see horse jumping in the Olympics next time. It reminds me of when I used to drive my old bosses  daughter to events for equestrian compilations and practice time. I remember driving to Kentucky in a huge RV they wanted there for her. This was 2010 or so. I stayed for one major event in NJ once also.  I was basically his daughters driver and security. The family had billions so they wanted more then a “driver”.  I’m as good as this legend below 😎

Oh, I just live in the right part of the country.  ;)  It is a lot of fun and especially if you ride. The last horse is our Henry. He loves to jump! 

Ballet is a little trickier as they frown upon camera's. None are allowed and even though I am pretty good at stealth mode, the pandemic has made it pretty much a no-go here. Soon! I promise! I got to see one this year.

That is fine, I caught up to you.  :)) Henry is the last horse picture, the one on the bottom.  They do seem to be flying straight across. It is even more amazing to see them fly over the BIG ones. 

I live right outside of horse country and so there are a lot of equestrian events !

It was so cool! I have never done that before, but, this has opened up a lot more opportunities for the future.

I love horses and would love to ride them more often but am always so busy and I do miss them and my girlfriend she is not with me as she has other job commitments back home and needs to take care of her  horses, was planning to go home or her visit me here every so often but covid has made a mess of that but all is good.
