Wednesday Walk Around the Block

It is a wonderful tag that I look forward to and haven't been able to accomplish in the last little while! ! I like to stroll about, taking in nature and life. What better way to document my day than to take a walk through life?</center>*

<center>I decided to take my walk around my own neighborhood, a place where I am at peace and it is always a pleasant time, seeing what people do to their yards and seeing new varieties of flowers along the way. These are in my yard, part of my own garden and they are a whispy fern type flower.I can cut them down and they are invasive enough, they push up more.</center>

<center>Thesse are purple clematis, and it is crawling up my mailbox. It makes a nice pop of color and blooms all summer. I love a flower that gives and gives, then even comes back next year, all on its own. Oh, yes. There is #alwaysaflower to color my world.</center>

*<center>The neighborhood has many green spaces, to let your dogs run, for you to feel like it isn't crowded. Even though this one has rolling terrain, most of them are not. This one leads down to a little stream, where the water life is abundant.</center>*

<center>These irises were a donation to the neighborhood pond (one of) They didn't have any flowers around this one, so I have been adding a few here and there. It will look better next year.I have a don't ask, don't tell policy.</center>

*<center>These are my favorite pine trees around here. They are just starting to put out some pinecones. They are green and sticky right now, but, when they get mature and turn brown and hard, I wait for them to fall from the tree to spread their seeds and I collect a few for the Christmas season. Sometimes, I spray them with gold glitter, other times just leave them in their natural state or even decorate packages with them. Nothing smells like Christmas like pine!</center>*

<center>A leftover pinecone from last year. It looks like the tree has died, taking the pinecones with it. Le sigh. I hate to see nature die prematurely. It was very tall and sturdy, but, I didn't think it was old.</center>

<center>This is another green space and over the fence and down where the rocks are is where water collects with a huge rain. It is much like a french drain and never really gets much water, but, it keeps the grass dry. The sun is blazing now.</center>

Do you eat clover flowers try often Denise?  I think they are very pretty but never thought to eat them.  Nice neighbour you live around, makes for an interesting walk exploring everyone else's life. 💚

Now that was a wonderful walk. I just love to take pictures of flowers and have a boat load of them. I have been really busy this past week, but I did manage to get a few pictures of my roses, love roses. I think I should put together a post to show them off, #alwaysaflower, @dswigle.

Clovers !  Gotta luv the clover !  Who would want it gone?  Not me !

I read once that back in the 40s / 50s..... the grass seed you bought was graded higher and more desirable, the more clover it had in it.  Then along came the poisons that attacked broad leaf grass, targeting dandelions and other grasses that were considered weeds.  Unexpectedly, it killed clover as well.  Somebody somewhere thought that was ok and so began the disappearance of much of it.

I have noticed though that it seems more folks are not using that poison and I am seeing more and more clover as I go along.  I'm liking it too and I"m sure the bees are.

Thank you! Those are the ones I planted! I have too many in my yard and at the Shore House, and after planting some along the back roads I decided that ponds here are lacking in the florals. I put some yarrow there yesterday. Just needed something that has a will to live, even when ignored. 

I planted a whole field of clover at the shore, and you should see the bunnies it attracts! :)) I go to the feed store and they will make up any kind of seed you want to plant. I thought it was pretty cool the first time I did it. I remember my father doing that. I like the clover flowers and bee balm and... and... and... the flowers taste pretty good. The bees love them too and we need to keep our bees happy! I do think that people are not using the poisons that they had been. Time has shown the damage caused by this and hopefully, we have learned.

That is lovely that you plant randomly around for the enjoyment of many.

As a child, when there were many clover patches throughout neighborhood yards, it felt so nice on my feet to walk in them.  I lived at an apartment some years back and some clovers were growing behind it.  A few times I had walked out barefooted and enjoyed trampling it a little....LOL.... not meaning too, but ... you know.  Anyway, all of the sudden one day, the landscape folks came along, spraying and spraying and within a few days, all the patches of clover were just dead brown spots.  😡  Those ugly brown spots were there all summer as they did not reseed till late fall.  Ugly !  Ugly ! Ugly !  ....all summer.  Ugh !

It should be against some kind of law !!

Here we have a lot of Purple loosestrife around the water. A friend of mine always wants me to bring some in to her, as she lives in the city and I have said I believe that to be a no no LOL.

Give those poor legs a break woman! You are going to walk them right off! 🤣

You have a very good neighbourhood, its was nice green places with the pine tree, similar to a golf feild. I have a desire to make a time spent on their under the shadow of tree for gossip someone a part of the daylight, having also some tea or coffee with snacks just sit on the mat. It really does, doesn't it? I take my phone and take snapshots along the way. Sometimes, the sun is so bright, I cannot actually see what I am taking a picture of, just a good guess! I used to take my camera, but, to be honest, I have found that less is best and because I am walking over 5 miles, I don't want to have to lug it around.  :)

Hi there, @dswigle yep it's the best way to start the day, isn't great that we can carry these hi-tech phones with us anywhere better then carrying a 5 kilo camera around especially when your on a walk  and I wish someone would invent a antirereflection screen it can really be a pain as you say when you can't line up that photo and get it into that frame without blinding you :)
