ok, i hope i can word this right

say, we have earth, and we put a huge plank on it
and then a spirit level, but extend it past (this is the term im missing)
would the spirit level become unlevel, the further it went along the degrees?

Yes, if you keep the level at the same angle the further out you go, the more un-level it gets.  Gravity can be said to work from the center of the circle.  It's only level if it's 90% from the center of the circle.
