Good day Steemians, Today we will dig into electronics particularly [***"Microelectronics"***](https://steemit.com/steemit-engineering/@dwaeji-aizelle/engineering-sunday-funday-microelectronics-remove-and-replace-of-discrete-components-with-a-step-by-step-process-video) and maybe some of you here already watched this video that we made the [***The Proper Remove and Replace of Discrete Components"***](https://steemit.com/steemit-engineering/@dwaeji-aizelle/engineering-sunday-funday-microelectronics-remove-and-replace-of-discrete-components-with-a-step-by-step-process-video). So to further understand the world of microelectronics I will discuss it to you so sit back relax and enjoy reading dear friends💯
### In the world of *MICROELECTRONICS*🔌💻 📱
<div class = 'pull-left'> https://cdn.pixabay.com/photo/2016/06/08/05/45/circuit-1443256_960_720.jpg </div>
Have you ever wonder how does electronics even started and made? Well, The most significant step in our modern electronics was being develop from late **1948** it was all started on that year wherein electronics started, and the first thing developed is the ***"transistor"*** in ***"Bell Laboratories"***, and this development of electronics where the ***"Edison Effect"*** occurs in the vacuum tube wherein the solid-state diode and transistor was made and then KABOOOM! The birth of ***"MICROELECTRONICS"***
### What is *Microelectronics*❓🤔
<div class = 'pull-right'> https://cdn.pixabay.com/photo/2016/02/24/08/41/motherboard-1219352_960_720.jpg </div>
***"Microelectronics"***, is an enhanced technology that is associated and applied with realization of our electronic system that are made and built into extremely small electronic parts or what we call as ***"elements"***. The term ***"Microelectronics"*** is now normally associated with what we call as ***"Integrated Circuits(IC)"***. But then not necessarily all ***IC's*** can be considered as ***microelectronics*** there are other types of circuits that also fall into the microelectronics category.
### So how does the creation of *"Microelectronics"* started ❓🤔
<div class = 'pull-right'> https://cdn.pixabay.com/photo/2016/01/31/19/55/soldiers-1172111_960_720.jpg </div>
It all began during the ravaging of **World War II**, during that time all of the military equipment were huge and very heavy to carry so engineers decided and think of an idea to reduce the ***size***, ***weight*** but maximize the efficiency of the equipment. So as the electronic system became more complex, the size, weight and power requirements also rapidly increases until such point that it was very unacceptable to carry equipment large system especially in aircraft and for infantry personnel
<div class = 'pull-left'> https://cdn.pixabay.com/photo/2015/11/13/20/15/light-bulb-1042480_960_720.jpg </div>
And because of there unacceptable factors during the war, this difficulties turns into a driving force in the development of ***smaller***, ***lighter***, and more efficient electronics. Then up to now such requirements continue to be important factors in the development of today's new systems for both military and commercial use.
### The amazing evolution of *Microelectronics*💥

The earliest electronics before was fairly simple😁 The electronic circuity before was only composed of a few ***tubes***, ***transformers***, ***resistors***, ***capacitors*** and multiple of electrical wiring and those where the things learned from early designers. But then as the time goes by designers has began to increase both the size and the complexity of their circuitry. And due to rapid increase in development soon they identified certain component thresholds and limitations as technology is rapidly evolving
### Typical Vacuum-Tube Equipment

This is one of the example of the oldest circuit designs, Many problems associated with this type of circuitry, although it contains lightweight tubes but then it's drawbacks is its heavy chassis. Aside from that, these tubes generates huge amount of heat and also requires a warm-up time of 1 -2 minutes, it also requires very large amount of dc supply of 300 volts or more just to drive this kind of circuitry, Aside from its hefty power requirements, the user must take into considerations that there should be the same type of tubes to use this kind of electronic device, So designers before took a lot time producing circuits that will resonate with any type of tube so that it will tune-up accordingly with any types of tube
### Nuisance of creating electronics before..
<div class = 'pull-right'> https://steemitimages.com/DQmdAMWun1jjkSQTecqQrmuabqiFWe2y59LrRRZ4vML8SSx/image.png </div>
One of the major problems in making electronic device before is the electrical wiring connection, before designers used the old-fashioned ***"point-to-point wiring"*** as you can see the arrangement of discrete components were very untidy and as a result it maybe difficult to trace the circuits connectivity. Vacuum-tube maybe reliable that time but there a lot drawbacks due to its very large size, heavy weight and very large power requirement which make it undesirable to use in most situations.
<div class = 'pull-left'> https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/4/4e/Eniac.jpg/375px-Eniac.jpg </div>
Let's take for example the computer system using tubes, the creation of [***"ENIAC(Electronic Numerical Integrator and Computer)"***](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ENIAC) did you know that this electronically built computer in 1945 was contained about **18,000 tubes** making it almost a day just to locate and replace those pesky faulty tubes and as human being it is very difficult to trace those tubes by just using your bare hands and our naked eye 😵
Just because of those nuisance in making electronics before it results into a wonderful creation of today's technology without knowing how hard their life before as a designer creating very large and heavy equipment just to make the lives of the people easier and convenient
Well! I guess this is how it ends for today's discussion about ***"The Genesis of today's Electronics"*** so stay tuned guys for the next topic about electronics which I will be discussing more of it on my next blog
