I was chatting with my friend today about the amount of phones I've used in the past. It was funny because I counted a few Blackberry products, and most of those phones were out of the market, or let me say nobody is using them again. It's not because they are terrible phones; this is just because Blackberry made a terrible mistake a few years ago, and most people talk about the ecosystem, but you know that Blackberry had these a few years ago. It's one of those things that made me buy my first Blackberry in the year 2014, and that was pinging.


Blackberry was a big thing then, and everybody wanted to use Blackberry. I remember my first salary as a hotel housekeeper was used to buy a Blackberry in 2014 because most of my friends were using it and it felt as if I was left out because I was using a Nokia E-series phone which is becoming outdated. The truth is, I don't like Blackberry, but because of the excitement that comes with pinging, my friends and I always talk about how good and how fast the message is. This changed my mind and I had to sell the phone I was using, and I added the money to my salary to get a Blackberry.

Back in the day, even though Android phones were already popular, some individuals preferred Blackberry phones due to specific features. One of these features was the pinging option, which was not available on Android devices. I recall teasing my brother for using an Android phone, a Techno device to be exact, because it did not have the pinging option.

In 2015, a new app on the Google Play store changed the game by allowing Android users to send ping messages to Blackberry devices. This contributed to the shift in preference toward Android phones. With cheaper prices and frequent feature updates, Android became the go-to choice for most people between 2015 and 2018, when Blackberry users began to switch to Android. During this time, the iPhone was not as popular, and nowadays, there is debate over its ecosystem. However, it's important to note that the iPhone's success is not solely based on its ecosystem.

Many believe that the Blackberry and Android lack the ecosystem and that has made Apple products so popular and also lose the market to them. However, there is more to it than just the ecosystem. Apple's offerings extend beyond iMessage, and even those who don't use it can appreciate the superior camera and overall experience of using an iPhone. When comparing iPhones to most Androids, it's clear that there is a difference in quality.

Early iPhones were ahead of their time

The iPhone 4, 5, and 6 are still viable options even in 2023. With good camera quality and the ability to perform 90% of what newer models can, they remain a reliable choice. However, bringing along an old Blackberry or Android device would likely cause difficulties in accessing heavy sites, processing videos, and performing other basic tasks. The early phones were undoubtedly ahead of their time, a testament to Apple's commitment to delivering the best possible product to consumers. It's not just about the ecosystem; it's about providing the best customer experience.

It always about 0.1% improvement every day

Comparing the early iPhones with the latest iPhone 15, there's a significant difference. While the changes made between every iPhone iteration may seem small, they are substantial. Apple strives to provide us with the best possible product every year. The iPhone's popularity isn't due to its high price, but rather the quality of the product is far superior to others in the market. While Samsung may try to compete with the iPhone, it's still far behind. If you compare every generational Samsung and every generational iPhone, you'll notice a big difference.

Apple phones offer more than just an ecosystem, they also provide some of the best gadgets and fun phones in the market. With their commitment to innovation and excellence, they've earned a spot as one of the top ten tech companies in the world.
