Hello everyone, trust you are all doing great. Today, I’ll be talking about “The social standard” 
 
Today I was on TikTok and I came across a post and the content of the post was a woman happily showing off what her husband got her as a push gift which was a deep freezer. Surprisingly, when I opened the comment section I was so disappointed and to my surprise again half of the hate comments were from women saying she settled for less. That freezer is nothing and her husband should have gotten her something better as the freezer is not of her benefit alone because the family will also benefit from it. I was so disappointed with the comment, and it was somewhat annoying how social media of today has set so many standards because of what we young folks have seen online, especially in the lives of influencers. 


What was going on in my mind was that what if the freezer was actually for the woman’s business? Because nobody knows what is going on in their family. And, what if that was what the woman needed the most at this point in her life to make things like batch cooking and preserving food more convenient for her? The truth is not everyone can afford to buy a car or a house that people have set as a big standard on social media. 
 
The funny thing is that I can beat my chest that some people are bashing this woman saying she settled for less because her husband gifted her a deep freezer which she was happy about do not even have a freezer in their house. And they have forgotten that what is considered less by them is someone else’s dream.  One thing I am so big on is that fulfillment and happiness are very personal and they should never be measured by external standards or the social standard. 

I have also seen so many people who chose family over career and people with professional success say they settled for less forgetting that some of the people who chose this are genuinely happy with the life they chose and they find joy in their family life. 
Honestly, it is so sad to see different standards being set for others. Why judge others based on your expectations?! Honestly, life is not hard as it is about finding pure joy. It is a little thing to you does not mean it can’t be a big thing to others. Please, let people be. Life is about finding pure joy and fulfillment in our way as humans like I said earlier. 

  Social media shows us the best parts of other people's lives, making us feel like we are not good enough. We start thinking everyone else has a more exciting, successful, or happy life than us. This has always created and still creates unrealistic expectations and makes some people feel less. People who do not meet these high standards are often mocked or looked down on, like their happiness does not matter and it is not supposed to be like that. 

In conclusion, the truth is that social rules can be good or bad. They can push us, but also hold us back. I am not going to deny that it is okay to have some expectations, but remember that happiness looks different for everyone. Instead of judging others, let us be happy for them. And let us not forget to accept who we are and help each other. That way, we can build a kinder society where everyone matters and stop calling other people's happiness “less”.
