OHN is a tincture made with warm medicinal chinese plants that is designed to help prevent pathogens or parasitic conditions that may occur in our soil and plants while farming/gardening.

Also can be used to help in fighting infections within our own bodies. 5-10mls in a glass of water.

Before I go further into this I would like to share a pdf and youtube video on this process:

[PDF](https://www.ctahr.hawaii.edu/oc/freepubs/pdf/SA-11.pdf)

[Youtube](https://youtu.be/iQSOCoyMmMU)

## OHN Ingredients:
2x Angelica - A. gigas, A. sinesis , Asian Varietals are prefered
1x Licorice root - Glycyrrhiza glabra
1x Cinnamon - Cinnamomum cassia
1x Ginger
1x Garlic
Beer
Hard Liquor (80 proof)
Unprocessed Sugar
Mesh strainer
6 -Tincturing containers with sealed lids
6 -Collection Containers with sealed lids (2x bigger than tincturing containers)
Paper Towels
5 non metal, untreated wooden stirring utensils

It's better to omit, rather than substitute ingredients

Can add local plants with medicinal properties preferably roots or barks.

## Day 1: Rehydration of dry herbs; Angelica , Licorice and Cinnamon

</center>

I filled each dry herb container 1/10 full with said single ingredient. Angelica requires two separate containers.
<center>
![20200825_145107_copy_800x600.jpg](https://images.blurt.buzz/DQmYMTnBWUuLqjgSCU2VnXkxQbrxK6GHwDG5ig1k5VNUTF4/20200825_145107_copy_800x600.jpg)
</center>

I made sure the ingredients were broken into ¼" inch pieces approximately.

I then filled each dry herb tincturing container to 1/2 full with a low alcohol fermented liquid such as beer or a rice wine that is low in alcohol, similar to a strong beer.
<center>
![20200826_055147_copy_800x1066.jpg](https://images.blurt.buzz/DQmWZGM6xySHzcFwjhhuagRaSUeceawYX6wJaDnGXto7ETt/20200826_055147_copy_800x1066.jpg)
</center>

I covered with a breathable lid (paper towel) and fastened in place with a rubber band.
<center></center>

I then labeled and dated each container with the starting date on the jars.
<center></center>

## DAY 2 - 8: Fermentation Stage: Fresh and Rehydrated Dry ingredients

### Fresh Ingredient Fermentation

I mashed the fresh ingredients separately with a hammer, one at a time.

</center>

I then added sugar at a ratio of 1:1 by weight, be sure to mix thoroughly with a gentle massage. Filling each tincturing container 3/4 full with the sugar, I rubbed the fresh ingredients and gently packed them down until 3/4 full. Each ingredient gets their own container.

**TRY TO SOURCE UNPROCESSED BROWN SUGAR. JAGGORY ETC. THAT IS PREFERED OVER WHITE SUGAR**

</center>

I then covered the containers with a paper towel and fastened with a rubber band. Always label and date the containers!

### Dry Ingredient Fermentation:
I added unprocessed sugar to each re-hydrated herb tincturing container until they were 2/3 full.
<center></center>

Using a non metal untreated wooden spoon, I stirred clockwise to mix. I try to use different bamboo stirring sticks for beach separate containers, if not rinse the spoon to not cross contaminate, and repeat the clockwise stirring of each of the rehydrated ingredients, until all have been done. When I finished this process, I recovered the jars with the paper towel covers and placed them in a dark cabinet to ferment.

## Tincturing 70 days
### Day 1
I filled the remaining 1/3 empty space of the containers with hard alcohol (80 proof) almost to the rim, leaving enough room to stir.
<center>
![PhotoPictureResizer_200905_172526411_crop_4160x1886_copy_800x362.jpg](https://images.blurt.buzz/DQmVxDJEvWTNmkfGv1b4ZddCTJwEkA4TXncaXTThmLJy1PE/PhotoPictureResizer_200905_172526411_crop_4160x1886_copy_800x362.jpg)
</center>

I used a different stirring utensil for each container and stirred each tincture clockwise with positive intentions early every morning.

I covered each of the containers with a solid, sealed lid, so the alcohol will not evaporate.

### Days 2-14
I continued stirring clockwise each of the ingredients with their own utensil every day in the morning, with good thoughts.

### Day 14 First Extraction
Using a strainer I poured and the entire contents of each tincturing container into the main 'finished' containers of each separate ingredient.

I then put the strained solids back into the tincturing container to pour back 2/3 by volume of the strained tincture from the main 'finished' container to tincturing containers. In this case I filled these up to 620mls.

I then refilled the tincturing container ⅓ full with hard 80 proof alcohol. This will also be the same amount of alcohol you add after each pour off.
I covered both the tincturing container and main finished container with solid, sealed lids. I labeled the main 'finished' container with the appropriate herb name.
All of the main 'finished' collection containers should have equal amounts of tincture of each ingredient, and 2 for Angelica.

At this point I needed to remove enough fresh ingredients from each fresh ingredient container in order to match by volume the amount of dry rehydrated herbs in each container, leaving only 1/10 approximately of fresh ingredients in each container. The pictures below are from the second extraction which needed to happen on the first extraction.

</center>

I will feed the solid ingredients to my earthworms. I will also keep each ingredient in their separate containers, and only premix enough OHN for 6 months of use.

Do not store premixed OHN for longer than 6 months.

To make OHN, I will add 1 part of each container into a new container.

## OHN Notes:
As OHN ages the molecules micronize, or become smaller causing for less to be used
Ratios for application:
First year- 1:1000
Second year- 1:1500
Third year- 1:2000
Fourth year- 1:2000
Fifth year- 1:2000
