This is a part of a feasibility study for a [proposed change](https://utopian.io/utopian-io/@eastmael/scaling-the-utopian-bot) in the @utopian-io bot. In that change, this author proposed to have multiple utopian bots for each of the contribution categories.

The aim of this analysis is to identify the amount of SP to be delegated for a certain category.

## 1. Scope of Analysis

* Contributions were acquired on **Dec. 13, 2017 1506H UTC**.
* Data extracted was from `2017-09-28 1539H UTC` to `2017-12-13  0045H UTC`.
* *Downvotes were excluded.*
* *Upvotes on comments were excluded.*

## 2. Utopian Growth Check

Before diving into the details, let's first check for the bot's performance.

So far in @utopian-io's voting history, there have been **647 authors rewarded, 973 projects contributed,** and **4823 contributions up-voted.**

Since these are **unique** values, I'm expecting that the number of **authors and projects** will be the same for December. For the contributions, I'm expecting it to increase since each contribution is unique.

The big dip at the end can be attributed to two things:
1. Adjustment of the bot's voting limit (up to ten 100% votes to keep it's power above 80%)
1. The up-votes were split into two days (up-vote round spanned from `December 12 2305H` to `December 13 0045H`)

## 3. Total Rewards Per Category

To identify which category to analyze, I checked for the total rewards given per category.

We can see that on the left *Treemap* ![image.png](https://res.cloudinary.com/hpiynhbhq/image/upload/v1513297901/jqogzimoyzfqe3jdxzho.png) that **translations** received the most rewards with **around $23K.** This author chose this category to look into.

## 4. Category Sampling

Since this author wants to determine the appropriate SP to delegate to `utopian-translation` bot, he first measured the existing parameters of @utopian-io's voting performance.

As of date and as what was established in the previous section, there were **806 contributions and $23K rewards given to this category** with a minimum vote of **$1.77** and a maximum of **$126.06.** 

> What type of translations deserve **$1.77** and which ones deserve **$126.06**? 

Let's look at this data from a different angle:

We can see here that the bot voted **201 contributions** with **around $20** and **173 contributions** with **around $40.** 

Let's consider only the top 5 vote rewards for the Utopian-translation bot's SP:

The maximum reward in this table is **$50.** Using [steemnow's upvote calculator](https://steemnow.com/upvotecalc.html), the SPs that will give us this vote value is **around 332K SP.**

## 5. Comparing with Existing Services

Doing a quick search for sites that offer translation services, I received a quotation of around **$ 50 USD** for a translation of this post to Japanese. This post has approximately around **600 words.**

## 6. Conclusion

This analysis aimed to identify the vote value of a theoretical Utopian Translation bot. We've identified here that most translation contributions were rewarded between **$10 to $50.** For the bot to be able to up-vote with this value, the bot needs an initial delegation of 332K SP.

Furthermore, we can use the **$10 to $50** reward value to compare with existing translation services such as the service offered by a [certain site](https://new.1translate.com/). 

However, since Utopian and STEEM is a new economy, the rewards given to a contribution will be subjective.
