Travel within Colombia - Manizales
Its been a busy few days, and getting busier.  This is good, great stuff is happening, and I am motivated to prune some unproductive projects from our life.

Yesterday, Thursday, we went over the mountain to Manizales.  The bus leaves at 5am, and with the new road its supposedly faster and easier than going to Ibagué.  We were going to test the hypothesis.

My wife @ecoinstante went last week and assured me it was true.  This time she was going to pick up her new passport, and I was going to send a box.

But disaster struck when the bus ran out of gas before even arriving to Murillo - apparently someone had syphoned the tank in the car park the night before.

But we got a good samaritan to bring us some diesel fuel from Murillo, and we were soon back on the road again.

It was a pretty trip, and the new road is great, even with the delay for diesel fuel, I do think the trip to Manizales was much less traumatic than going to Ibaguė.

After a quick bathroom break in the Caldas tourism center, we were on the road again arriving to Manizales, the capital of Caldas.

We arrived to a very well organized and clean terminal de transporte and had a coffee and a pan de bono, made with yuca flour.

Then we grabbed a taxi to the cultural center, where @ecoinstante had her appointment to get the new passport.  It has become quite urgent, as we travel next week.  We tried for weeks in Bogotá and Ibagué and it was just impossible.

But here we were, on the other side of the mountain, achieving it!

After a great success (yes @snook we are coming!), I went to the nearby public mail service office, and met with some failure, apparently my package goes against the current Biodiversity Law, and they can't send it.

I have a meeting on monday with the Minsiter of Environment and Sustainable Development in Bogotá to figure it out.

So we had some time before our bus back, the taxi driver had mentioned a few facts about this weird statue, that the local bishop had demanded the balls be cut off, and I guess they were.  Seems a bit demonic to me anyway, but it is quite tall!

We enjoyed a huge lunch of Fiambres, which had chicken and pork rinds and chorizo and an egg with rice, potato and yuca as well, don't forget the arepa.

Finally we went back to the bus station, and got ready to sleep on our way back to Lībano.

We got back home at just after 5pm, it was a long day, but we got a lot done, even if everything wasn't successful.

We will be travelling next week again, it seems we are entering a period of more travel after a few years of not travelling very much.
