So who dictates that a post deserves what earnings? I think you’re a tad reaching here and actually hating on the success of others. You are better off focusing on your plate before attack the bread if another’s

- posting stuff that is misleading
- posts are rewarded more than what it deserves
- insulting or bullying someone
- hurting the cause of the platform etc
- Other (Specify)

I would personally love to see a downvote button with a must select drop-down comments option. or Maybe we need to add one more feature called the abuse or report it as spam

How do you decide if a content is quality enough though? This is something I have been contemplating on. I used to think it’s all about the length, but I have read contents that are lengthy and I can’t consider them quality enough and I have read some that are 600 words and they are good. I used to think it’s based on pictures and mark down, but really it’s not all that. Quality is in the words and message to be passed. Downvoting because one feels it’s over curated in value doesn’t really feel right to me. Downvoting should be for abuse, plagiarism and violation 

It's a fight that rages on and off for 5.5 years.  I'm not surprised to see those who are relatively new here trying to sort it out.  I AM pretty amused at those who are still discussing it after 5 plus years.  

It's a DPOS system, SPOILER- Stake wins fair or unfair.

There are strengths and weaknesses in DPOS, but I look at it as if it's a business, those with stake are the executives and they make the decisions.  You either like those decisions or not and should invest accordingly.

Personally, I wish they wouldn't act like they do, but I also would argue for their stake being the tie breaker in the system.

Downvoting is designed to protect the forum.

The first step to proper use of a DV is to communicate the reason for the downvote. 

I would add the issue of tag abuse to the list of acceptable reasons to DV a post.

Some people have invested a great deal of time and money into creating communities and tribes on HIVE. People who invest in these communities need to protect their efforts.

For example, LeoFinance wants to focus on discussions about the financial aspects of crypto. I understand that they aggressive DV users who drop the #LEO tag on all of their posts.

I noticed that this post uses the #CreativeCoin tag. [CreativeCoin](https://www.creativecoin.xyz/created). CreativeCoin was originally designed to reward artists and musicians. 

Since this post is about DV. I decided to do the following. I just gave a 100% upvote with @yintercept which has 5000 HP and 250 LEO.

I asked the group controlling @vagabondspirit to DV the post. This account has 100 HP and 21,000 CCC. The DV should effectively strip the CCC from this post. 

The DV should increase the rewards for artists and musicians who are posting with the #CreativeCoin tag.

## Citing Sources for Images

BTW: Did you notice that you failed to cite the sources of the images on the post?

A primary reason for the DV is that HIVE needs to protect against copyright abuse. There are legal issues involved here. If HIVE does not actively protect copyrights; then the platform is to become subject to legal actions.

HiveWatchers has a history of downvoting people who use images without citing the sources with the assumption that people who use stockphotos without citing the source of the photo are likely abusing the copyrights of the image creator.

## Removing DVs

An downvote has the same time window as an upvote. People who drop DVs should follow up on the DV.

It is possible that you are an heir of Mel Blanc or that you are an artist working for Warner Brothers Cartoons. In that case you would have the legal right to draw a bugs bunny cartoon and use it on CreativeCoin.

In that case, @vagabondspirit will happily remove the DV.

## Improving HIVE Through Communication

People who drop DVs should actively engage in discussions and the discussions should be aimed at improving HIVE. 

The DV should never be aimed at silencing or hurting participants in the forum.
