One of my favorite dog breeds to draw are pugs! I have made numerous drawings with pugs and all of them i have sold, shortly after finishing them.  The reason maybe also is that a lot of people love them too, but not only that is the reason.  
For me now, the first drawing is more like sketch for me.  At that time it was a finished drawing and i was happy mostly because i could draw the shape good, the proportions were right, and the realism was not really a purpose at that time.
 
These were my first drawings, my first introduction to charcoal. I tried to draw different things. Yesterday i showed a drawing of a Lion. Here i have a pug. I had done many more, and i did not focus on a particular  animal or something, i just  was drawing everything i wanted not being afraid that i do not have the skill. I remember then, years ago, that i was scared to draw pugs. Their nose and the face is just so specific and for drawing it is difficult, if you do not have a certain technique and some level of skill too.  I was not watching any videos or anything, or reading an art book. I learned the way to draw pug, by practice. Now this is what i am saying very often. It is true and there is no other way better, which can help you to do it.  I was just looking at a black sheet of paper, and i watched how can i get the effect that i know i need. There have been many people who asked me, that they are learning, sketching multiple times a day even, and for months they can not get better. Their friend on the other hand, tried it for a week and already can do it.  Even taking the fact that the first person is learning more and more  often. And have done more sketches.
 What i heard was: He has a talent. Now that is false and now true at all.  In many cases i have seen the real reason for this.  When you are learning, and using sketches to do it, you actually HAVE to learn. There are people who are learning, just like reading books. Someone can read a book in one evening and remember anything. Someone can do it slowly,not paying attention and in the end does not really know how the book started. If you actually learn, you do not have to try 10 times to be good at something.  You can do it 5 times. Someone fails once and the second time already he knows eliminates the mistakes.
