I would think quality would matter.  I do not know what type of alga rhythm they use to determine payout.  It seams type of comment may matters and subject being discussed in addition to number of votes received.   If  we all knew we would be much richer LOL

And I agree to the statement of Neoxian !!! Quality IS subjective!

With this post I actually wanted to test a couple of things: First of all how many account will actually vote for this post and how much rewards is will generate. Why? To relate the outcome back to my other posts and to see what the value actually is I put into those posts for which I spend considerable time to create.

I recently created other non time consuming posts as well, with more or less the same idea. That are my posts I send using SteepShot. Creating posts with SteepShot takes a minute or so. From time point of view these posts have low value. Than the value is all about the content, ie the picture posted. I post different materials with SteepShot from own shot pictures to others digital art creations, to see how the community value them.

Quality is subjective, but the community will have their preferences. Those who are on Steemit to earn some money will be influences by the community wrt choices of post topics. I've seen this with others Steemians, and I've seen this with myself. Music for instance is undervalued at Steemit, and I have the feeling people who like music, do not post (anymore) on music because of the low returns. I stopped posting on music also, not really consciously, I have so many topics I like to post on, but some time ago I wanted to try and create a value for music in the community, but then somehow I got distracted. If music was more valued, it may have kept my focus on music (although I do not know this, since it is hypothetical, and as mentioned already, I have so many topics I like to post on that it is easy for me to get distracted). At least this week I started music posts again and intent to continue with that :)

I started unfollowing a few and also who became  "lawyers" without a degree. 

Music is undervalued for a long time but it never stopped me from posted Whats quality for me. I posted so many songs on @radiosteem but this project drowned. Made me very sad

I consider the quality really matters it is the way to eventually get popularity. When I write for a post in steemit, I aim to quality rather than popularity. 
Anyway I am newbie, and I have low "visibility" here, it is difficult to be noticed by the people with large steempower

I know it is hard, super hard actually; Been there; Took me a lot of time to get where I am, and also I still have to work really hard to get some attention. Promote your posts in steemit.chat and on discord (steemtrails guys for instance); also check out curie. They all do good work and give you train upvotes when they like your posts. Curie helps newbies only; Check their posts @curie
