Hello Splinterlands community. How are you?
Today's post will be about trivia. If you are a curious person like me and like to investigate everything you will like this post.
The original idea for this post came from the curiosity to know why there is a profile called @Steemmonsters and why the curators are done by it.
I started in the game just a month ago and every day I get more envolved with this project.
And the search for the answer to my curiosity took me to another dimension, making me go back to the past and discover curiosities about the game.
The result of this I present here to you, but first I would like to thank @Carrieallen and @marianaemilia for being so thoughtful and responding with as much affection my questions.
The following information was mainly collected from posts published on official game profiles, in some I will leave the link to the original post.
___
And let's start by answering what caused my immersion in the universe of splinterlands.
The original name of the game is Steem Monsters, in April 2019 the game was renamed Splinterlands. The game started on the Steem Blockchain platform and was later changed to a Hive blockchain platform, also changing the name of the game.

___
The *Speellbook* was called the *Starter Set*, cost $5 (but another $5 was charged to create a Steem account) and had 15 starting cards, then passed it at the cost of $10 with 30 starting cards that could be traded (except for free Starter Sets accepted by promo codes).

___
At the end of the year 2019 Splinterlands organized a big New Year's tournament and distributed 2M DEC in prizes. 710 players participated in the tournament which took over 3 hours and was divided into 10 rounds.

___
@Carrieallen and @chrisroberts *The Masters of Lore* have joined the splinterlands team for showing off their incredible storytelling creativity. If the Lore exists, it's mostly thanks to these two. You can read more about their announcement as part of the team [here.](https://peakd.com/steemmonsters/@steemmonsters/introducing-the-lore-masters)
___
Materials such as stickers, t-shirts, physical letters and copies of SpliterLore were made in the campaign to promote the Untamed edition. You can read more about a Kikstarter Untamed campaign [here.](https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/526764488/splinterlands-untamed-a-blockchain-trading-card-game?)

___
The deck of cards contained 59 cards, inicialy, from the alpha set printed with beta skin. Some *Foiled* (shiny) decks were also made around 100 copies of the SplinterLore book were distributed.

**Prince Rennyn** gave buffs of +2HP and +1 ranged attack, his buffs were changed to +1 ranged attack, +1 HP and +1 speed.

___
The melee attack Debuff even decrease the attacks of characters that had 1 attack, leaving it at 0. This was changed in season 4.
___
The ability *Halving* in your initial idea would halve the opponent's attack whenever the character that had this ability was hit and soon was changed to the ability we have today, where the opposing monster hit by a card that has this ability will have its attack reduced by half. The first time this ability appeared was in **Halfling Alchemist** character.

___
A variety of cards also had small changes in health, mana and/or speed to stay more balanced, were several and as changes were small I don't put it here.
___
Some buffs and nerfs granted by summoners have a green or red circle around them. The green circle means that the ability will be granted to all friendly monsters. The red circle means that the skill's effect will be granted to all opposing monsters.

___
When entering using the referral link, the new player and the referral account received cards and could even receive a Legendary Gold Foil - GFL this reward was deactivated in May 2021 (currently only the referral account receives credits in the proportion of 5% referring to to purchases made by the affiliate).

These were just some of the main curiosities I found, there are certainly many more interesting things. Finding all this information just makes me want to go back in time to participate in this amazing project from the beginning.
___
I'd like to congratulate @aggroed and @yabapmatt for their genius, if the project is growing and breaking records day after day it's mainly for the way you two drive ideas mainly by listening to the community. I'm sure the game will reach much higher heights and I'm happy to be a part of it, even if it's a little late.

<div class= "pull-left">https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/edward.martin/23w2eWiVTatvdi7xSYDCKuy2XSVf1D5mCZGwSVFX2AFqcNaQAPwyeK1vArQpsbFALwMaj.png</div>

___
