This is a very complicated topic. Nonetheless, I believe that there is one fact that I am sure most people agree with – investing doesn't end by merely owning the right business and breathing long prayers of satisfaction over your ever-growing portfolio. You have to plan and strategize.

Even if you may not be actively playing the short game now along with your friends and colleagues, in new times of shorter attention spans it would pay more dividends for anyone who can stay sharp and skeptical throughout every process in their portfolio. 

Of course, there are also things we should not do as investors, however, nowadays it looks like money-making machines which seemingly don't end like their predecessors in all aspects but the amount associated with each payout. 

Some people seem to forget that gambling does not occur before shopping or clipping coupons at local grocery stores - it's often during those moments when you assign too much faith into what a single given situation offers you right away and get blinded by any potential windfall.

The best thing to do is to use your head, analyze the situation and take a step back, before jumping in with both feet into any of these scenarios. 

I have come to my conclusion. "Gambling" is when you risk everything on one roll of the dice– without any prior knowledge and without preparing for it – while "investing" is when you know what you're getting into and still choose to put your money at risk by taking calculated risks and betting accordingly.  

Investing in a lucrative, short-term investment game might be alluring but it’s worth remembering that quickly exercising them becomes more difficult. Therefore, investing long-term is recommended instead. The best investment involves finding the "real" stocks with the highest expected returns and holding them for long periods. Instant gratification is often abandoned in favor of sustainable earnings derived from time and patience, not so much guesswork.

Risk management is always important, but it becomes even more so when the investor invests in a game that provides little to no stabilizing force. For example, stock market gambling is speculative and the person would have to have no fear of losing money to be able to enjoy this type of investment. 

Risk management usually means taking appropriate measures such as buying an index fund rather than investing everything into one company. In short-term investments, expect higher risks and volatility due to the nature of the game. This can be offset by diversifying the investment and investing in short-term growth stocks, banking on them to increase their value over time.

There is a greater need for risk management in short-term investments than in long-term investments due to the potential for rapid gains and losses. Investors need to consider risks such as inflation and taxes when investing in stocks or other financial instruments that pay out dividends or interest.

Diversification is key, to minimizing the risk of investing in stocks that pay out dividends.

Investing should never be done with a short-term win-lose mindset but rather a long-term goal of the returns you are trying to generate.
