# I am really sorry for my somewhat visible absence from writing like before, I have been having series of meetings with my crew in preparation for the planning of the Steemit In Nigeria event.
It's a saddening  moment when we come across people who help others simply for their own gains and we stop to wonder....

So I couldn't come up with my usual quotes, largely due to the fact that I am not feeling like 100% today in my writings.

Let us start at the basics of this topic and then everyone can understand why I chose it. I was having a conference call with my 360 Lead Entertainment crew and the web designer working on the site today, so I asked him to make a few tweaks to the proposed design for the site to help make it more user friendly, so we took care of that and the team started talking on how to make the Steemit In Nigeria event we are planning a success.
After discussing and running some scenarios of what could go wrong and how to tackle it, a friend asked me a question. He said

 # "I hope we really help people after all this and don't focus on getting attention that we lose focus."

At that point, I had to look deep in my soul for the answer, and when I was deeply convinced, we moved on with the conversation.

# Why do people help?
- For personal gains:

It sounds abstract but some people actually help not because they feel the need to help, but because they have seen a possible gain in helping others. It sickens me when I come across such people as a funny fact is they do all they can to please, in other to get what they want, and by the time the damage that was done will be noticed, they will be long gone onto another target.
Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do about such individuals except to be weary of them. However they are not hard in spotting, as they feel the need to announce everything they do for the whole world to see.

# The best way to find yourself, is to lose yourself in the service of others

A look at one of my favs quote from J.F. Kennedy practically explains the need to help others genuinely rather practise selfish helping.
I was reviewing an Indian article on helping from this [source](http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/life-style/relationships/love-sex/Always-feel-like-helping-others-Heres-why/articleshow/16864052.cms) and I was enlightened more about the act of helping others.

- People help due to the Messiah or Savior complex

Forget how the name sounds,there re actually people with such tendencies to help, although not for financial expectation, but for the satisfaction of their ego.
They have a constant need to boost their ego by always attempting to be the sole  source of the solution and they always try to dominate while helping.
I cannot ascertain if it's a medical or psychological problem as I  am neither a doctor nor a shrink, but I do know that people with such tendencies exist.

True helping and giving is a virtue I wish all had, because if they dud, the world might just be a better place . A place where you get not because you expect it from giving, but because it becomes a loving circle.
Rendering help should not come at a price, after-all it is supposed to be something between you and the other person, so why expect something in return when you willingly opted to help?
Like I will always say, in the words of J.F. Kennedy
