From an Acorn to an Oak Tree - Finding a Squirrel's Lost Buried Treasure
Every once an a while mother nature will surprise you with a special gift for being a symbiotic human, and if you are paying attention, you can retrieve it. I have a few stories of such things from my past (one I described in [my Hive intro](https://peakd.com/hive-114105/@elamental/introducing-elamental-to-hive-lyrical-artist-weaving-dreams-into-reality)), and am now living out a new one. 

When I was repairing my destroyed raised garden bed during [episode 2 of my *BackYard Cannabis Farming* series for 2020](https://peakd.com/hive-181335/@elamental/qghxgwfl), I had to replace some of the spoiled topsoil, and also remove weeds from the bed. While weeding the area, I pulled an oddly peculiar one that turned out to be more than an unwanted plant pest in the way of my crop space.

When I plucked this divine gift of nature from the soil, it was growing out of a busted acorn, and with it I revealed a perfectly formed and healthy white root system underneath as well. With such a perfect sprout pulled from my garden, I knew I could not toss it in the bucket with the rest of the weeds. I quickly transplanted it into a one gallon pot, where it will remain until it is ready to be transplanted into a bigger one. My biggest regret was not photographing the busted acorn root system and spout as it looked when I first plucked it from the Earth. If you are like me, you would have found it absolutely breathtaking.

This acorn must have been purposely buried there by a local squirrel and accidentally forgotten, but he also unknowingly planted the nut, and by the will of Gaia nurtured it into a perfect little baby oak tree. I immediately felt the energy from this plant once I touched it, and even noticed that it stood apart from the other weeds in the area when I first made eye contact with it. My connection to this sprout was undeniable, and after pulling it undamaged, I felt a responsibility to it as it's caretaker. I realized it has become completely up to me what will happen to this tree of life - whether it thrives or dies, that is now on me.

I would never take for granite a gift of life from Gaia, and I openly receive and accept the charge of nurturing it's lifeforce until it is old enough and big enough to then nurture mine - and that of my kin.

I take receiving this tree as a sign that I will one day have land of my own to plant it on, serving as the family tree *for* my family and home, providing much needed oxygen and shade for this future environment. I see this baby tree as a countdown clock, knowing that when it eventually outgrows my being able to carry it, I will finally be in a place in my life where I can plant it permanently to enjoy for the rest of my days. I hope to even see my grandchildren swinging from a rope on it one day, even if it is after my body is laid to rest. Maybe I will even be planted underneath this tree by my children after my days in this life are complete. 

Thank you for your divine abundance sweet mother Gaia, I cherish every gift you grace me with. Thank you for supporting my life, and providing the nurturing I need every day. Thank you for helping craft me into the man I have become, and am still becoming. Evolution is unfolding all around us constantly, so dont miss your nut that Gaia made the squirrel forget. With your help, a new forest could grow from it's seed.

They are everywhere on the East coast where I am from, but they are actually quite uncommon out here in Oregon. Now find a Sassafras tree in Oregon, that would be about as rare as it gets. I hope I get land soon too, setting intention again. Persistence pays off! Blessings.
