La única vez que estuve en Guanare, fue tocando en un estadio de béisbol, cerca del mediodía. En la ida para allá se accidentó el transporte y llegamos en la raya... Justo para tocar y salir corriendo nuevamente para tocar un poco más tarde en Puerto Cabello. 

Recuerdo que yo trataba de ver la ciudad y por la hora y nuestro apuro, yo veía todo seco y desolado... Viendo estas imágenes me doy cuenta de lo equivocado que estaba.

Creo que es necesario que vuelva, pero con calma para poder disfrutar de estas bellezas.

Hubo una época en que Guanare tuvo tanto festivales: Festival Internacional de Música Llanera El Silbón, Bienal Internacional de Títeres, Festival de Percusión, Encuentro de Jóvenes Solistas, Festival de Teatro de Occidente, Encuentro de Escritores Portugueseños y numerosos festivales locales y regionales que uno no lograba ir a todos. Para entonces Guanare fue conocida  como la Atena de los llanos. 

Aparte, cuenta con un módulo de la Orquesta Sinfónica de los Llanos, en una de sus parroquias está ubicado el Templo Nuestra Señora de Coromoto  y ahí, en el parque Los Samanes, descansó un día de 1813 el Libertador cuando venía de Trujillo en su famosa campaña admirable, por eso el cuido que le damos, aún se conserva un viejo samán donde cuenta la historia que reposó Bolívar y el ejército patriótico.
Si algún día nos visitas, ya cuentas con dos amigos.
