Es un placer siempre regresar a esta gran comunidad como es Full Deportes. En esta ocasión me voy a referir a un beisbolista que lleva años dentro de las Ligas Menores y aún no ha logrado debutar en la MLB. Me refiero al cienfueguero Cesar Prieto. 

El joven, novato del año de la Serie #59 en Cuba, y recordista de más partidos consecutivos pegando de hit en la Serie #60, desertó de nuestro equipo en el Preolímpico que se jugaría en 2021 en West Palm Beach, Miami.

Se mantuvo hasta 2022 en la República Dominicana, hasta que logró su primera firma en la Gran Carpa. Los Orioles de Baltimore se fijaron en su talento, y en un momento en donde ya contaban en su plantilla con dos cubanos más. 

Sin embargo, tras demostrar su calidad en Doble A, y ser ascendido a Triple A no pudo dar el salto a Las Mayores, ni siquiera en el año en donde los Orioles perdieron 100 partidos y eran últimos de su división.

En 2023 fue traspasado a los Cardenales de San Luis en donde tampoco recibió la oportunidad que merecía ni ese año ni en 2024. Es que la verdad, para César Prieto era la peor decisión ir a los Cardenales. Es una franquicia que en los últimos 10 años llegó a tener peloteros como Randy Arozarena, Adolis García y Johan Oviedo. 

Estos 3 a día de hoy son pilares en sus respectivas franquicias. Pero César decidió quedarse y luchar su puesto. Ya estamos en una época en donde el hit para los gerentes si no es de 4 esquinas para ellos no es válido. Entiendo, ya el promedio de bateo no influye tanto como las carreras producidas.

 Solo por ponerles un ejemplo, el primer pelotero de la temporada en llegar a 50 jonrones, batea 210. Pero bueno, ya anoche antes de dormír leí la noticia que César Prieto finalmente sería activado por los Cardenales de San Luis y haría su debut hoy en la Serie con los Rojos de Cincinnati. 

Afortunadamente a todos les llega su momento de alegría, ahora le toca a César demostrar que tiene estirpe y calidad para triunfar en el mejor béisbol del mundo.
