You have often heard that if we think of positive things we attract positive things and if we think of negative things we attract negative things. This article is not going to be the exception. But the difference this time —and the reason you'll be interested in staying— is that I'm not here to tell you *what 3 simple steps to follow to be happy in 5 minutes*, as if it were something so easy. In this article I only bring you a proposal, a way to see the bad things and the problems that can help you face these in a better way.
> *The problem is not the problem, but how you deal with it*.
So yes, stay, because the chances of this article helping you are very high.

In an elevator, a person finds a wallet with ID, bank cards, and cash. In another part of the world, another person is in the same situation. The first person thinks, *"I'm going to keep the cash because if it were up to me to lose my wallet, someone else would keep the money. Besides, with this money I will be able to buy that thing that will make me happy"*. The second person thinks, *"I'm going to leave this wallet at the front desk so they can find the owner. After all, that's what I'd like them to do for me if this were my lost wallet"*. Which of these two people brings behind him a truly happy life? Which of the two harvests the most positive thoughts from his sowing?
In the chapter from which I extracted the opening sentence, the author adjusted Newton's third law, *"for every action, there is an opposite reaction in equal force and magnitude"*, to life. He said that, in the same way, for every action we take or decision we make in life there is a reaction of the opposite side in equal form and intention. So, he mentioned that *karmatically* speaking, the one who does the good does not have to receive the evil, and the one who does the evil is very unlikely to receive the good.
I believe in karma, but not in a way that if I do the good I will receive the good. Rather, I believe in mental karma, which rewards you with good emotions if you do things right, faithfully respecting your morals, and punishes you with guilt if you know that what you did was wrong. *"The important thing is to have a clean conscience"*, said in *El Chavo del 8* the character *El Chavo*, played by Chespirito/Roberto Gómez Bolaños.
The good side of Karma is that joy you feel when you act the way you think you are right without fear and with courage, clinging firmly to your ideals and beliefs. For example: knowing that problems are problems and that's all, without the need to react in a pessimistic, negative or reactive way, is something that gives me back a lot of peace of mind after facing a problem with that thought, because when you act in favor of finding an intelligent solution that benefits everyone and not a desperate solution from which you first benefit and then *"we'll see the others"*, you receive peace, a feeling of carefree that is worth a thousand times more than the relief of having *"saved you first"* and then thinking in others.
Thinking about everyone and not just yourself when solving a problem is something that, besides giving you a pleasant sensation and a serene mind, also transmits good intentions to your environment, because other people will be pleased to see that you take the important initiative of considering them when finding a solution; that you care about them. Then a shekel is created in which the people who behaved defensively with you let their guard down, because they no longer feel it necessary, they feel they can trust you and support you and listen with the best of intentions.
How do you maintain a positive attitude towards problems? Knowing that problems are problems —something out of your control— and your attitude is your attitude —something you can control.
> They say that a disciple walked through the forest and pricked his foot with a thorn. As he tried to take it out with pain, he saw a person of bad living coming along the same path. Not only did this person not stop to help him, but he found a gold coin in the same place where he pricked his foot with the thorn. Very annoyed, the disciple replied to his master: *"It is not fair! I am a good person, I am dedicated to meditation and service, and I kneel with a thorn. On the other hand, he is a person of bad living, who hurts many people, and he finds a gold coin"*. The master replied: *"Disciple, that is the law of Karma. You should have died on this road, killed by a gang of thieves, but by your good deeds you only knelt your foot. He should have been king of this territory and had mountains of gold, but since he dedicated himself to evil living, he only found one coin".*
The image above is a cave because it is related to the analogy of the echo used in the phrase. Next time you are faced with a problem or a discussion, imagine that you are in "the cave of life", and that if you shout defensive and stubborn things, the echo will only return defensive and stubborn things to you; but if you shout intentions to understand each other's point of view and to find a mutually beneficial solution, the echo will return understanding and mutually beneficial solutions.
