Women, especially those of us blessed with motherhood, spend our days attending to the needs of others.

Mom doesn't know that a trip to the beach is just another day we'll spend serving snacks, picking up discarded clothes, worrying about hydration, safety, with no time or nerves to read quietly in the shade of a coconut tree or float in the water no matter where or how far the tide takes us.

> That's why I prefer to travel alone. To enjoy the freedom to choose my path or change it suddenly without giving tiresome explanations.

Go for what I like. To finally do that gastronomic tourism, to try dishes that my family, who doesn't share that passion, would never agree to try.

What if I plan a day packed with experiences, but with my first cup of coffee in the morning, I see so many interesting people around me that I'd rather sit back, observe, review, or imagine their lives? I could do that if I wanted to, and that's it!

_¿Prefieres viajar solo, con amigos o en familia?_

> Para ir directo al asunto debo confesar que prefiero viajar sola.

Las mujeres, sobre todo las que tenemos la bendición de ser madres, pasamos los días atendiendo necesidades de otros.

> Sacrificamos nuestro tiempo, intereses, deseos y descanso. Lo hacemos con gusto porque los amamos, pero qué hay de nosotras.

Que mamá no sabe que un viaje a la playa es solo otro día que pasaremos sirviendo bocadillos, recogiendo la ropa tirada, preocupándonos por la hidratación, por la seguridad, sin tiempo ni nervios para leer tranquilamente a la sombra de un cocotero o flotar en el agua sin importar a dónde ni por cuánto nos lleve la marea.

> Por eso prefiero viajar sola. Disfrutar la libertad de elegir mi camino o cambiarlo de pronto sin dar explicaciones fatigosas.

Ir por lo que me gusta. Hacer por fin ese turismo gastronómico, probar los platillos que mi familia, que no comparte tal pasión, jamás aceptaría probar.

> Así es, y más que todo eso. Se trata de recobrar mi ritmo, correr, estallar, languidecer, hacer de todo u ocuparme en nada, pero volver a ser una misma mientras el viaje dure.

Qué tal que planifique un día cargado de experiencias, pero en el primer café de la mañana vea tantas personas interesantes a mi alrededor que prefiera sentarme, observar, reseñar o imaginar sus vidas. ¡Podría hacerlo si me apetece y ya!

> Un viaje sola sería una oportunidad para tomar distancia de necesidades y metas que llevo tanto tiempo cubriendo y empiezan a borrar mi identidad al asumirlas como propias.

Imagino que descubriría cosas nuevas sobre mí, tal vez intereses o preferencias que había adquirido o cambiado sin saberlo porque me faltó ese espacio de quietud y privacidad para verme a mí misma.

> Tal vez me de cuenta de que me gusto más de lo que pensaba, que mi compañía me es agradable, y que soy alguien con quien vale muchísimo pasar el tiempo.
