We, with one of my readers, recently got to talking about the very painful topic of how to survive the period of "creative illness". It seems to me that this period comes early or late for all creative people and is expressed in the fact that at some point they completely lose the desire to draw / sing / write / prepare / do something creative. For different reasons. Most often the reasons are: "it does not work out", "I do not want to", "tired", etc.
I'm struggling with this about like this. If I do not want to - then I will not. In the end, plus free creativity (if only it is not the main earnings) is that it can be suspended at any time without asking the question, what tomorrow will need to buy food. If I do not feel like drawing, I do not paint. I do something else. I can master some new kind of creativity that I did not do before; I can switch to something that I did before, but did not spend so much time; I can go through art supplies, find out that I need a new album and a brush, and follow them to the store; I can decide that I do not have enough inspiration, and go in search of him. Do you understand what is the point, yes? It's because I do not stop. When you realize that you have a "creative illness", you can not go to bed, fold pens and wait for it to pass by itself, or it will be cured for you. You have to turn around, work and switch your attention to something else. It's like in sports - there must always be training, so that the body does not forget how it is to be strong and strong. And this is just the right time to remember all the things that you put off for later, "when will be the time."
Dreaming and wanting - it's great. But never forget the third condition - and do it. Work together with your work, do not choke it with "rest". If you really want to create - then this is the best sign that you do not need to rest from creativity and yourself.
