Recently, I had the pleasure of visiting the Johnson Jakande Tinubu (JJT) Park in Ikeja, Lagos. This beautiful park is named after three former governors of Lagos State who have made significant contributions to the development of the state. The park is a testament to its legacy and serves as a source of pride for the people of Lagos.
JJT Park's exciting history dates back to the early 1980s when the Lagos State government acquired the land. The original plan was to build a housing estate on the ground, but this plan was eventually abandoned. In 2013, former Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola officially opened the park, and it has since become a popular destination for families, tourists, and fitness enthusiasts.
One of the most incredible things about JJT Park is its size. The park is expansive, covering an area of 10 hectares. It is divided into several sections, including a children's playground, a football field, a basketball court, a tennis court, and a jogging track. A large theatre can accommodate up to 500 people, making it an ideal venue for concerts and other outdoor events.
I took drone pictures of the beautiful scenery during my visit to the park. However, I was quickly warned to stop by one of the park officials because the Governor's office was nearby. Despite this setback, I still captured some breathtaking park shots from a ground-level perspective.
I would love to revisit JJT Park because of its serene atmosphere and the various activities. It is a perfect place for families to spend quality time together and an excellent destination for fitness enthusiasts who want to enjoy a scenic jog or workout.
