<div class="text-justify">Ask every successful person how they got to the place they are today and I guarantee you that among the things they will tell you is “consistency.”
I was watching one of WizKid's interviews recently and a question was hurled at him, “what is the advice you have for those who aspire to become like you in music?”
He said, “Stay true to yourself and keep practicing, even if things don't seem to go your way, don't just stop.”
In a busy world, in a world guided by time, it is very easy to give up on something especially when we have been trying and it's giving little to zero results.
The first thing that might come to our mind is we are wasting time that we do not have. Maybe if we channel the energy to something else it might be more useful and gradually, we would let down that thing and give up.
What I am trying to say is consistency is not easy. Coming back to do the same thing every day whether it is pleasant or not is arduous.
Sometimes you can be bored, and at times you can be discouraged. Even if you are seeing positive results there are days you will not feel like it but consistency will tell you, “go on, I don't care about your emotions.” It takes discipline and genuine determination to keep it going.
It may look like stress or punishment at first but when it is done continually it will become a habit and that is the part I love the most.
Whenever I hear people say “I can't do this, I won't be able to cope,” I feel bad. Just forget about how you feel, and get started, be consistent and you won't know how you are automatically doing it.
Doing something every day makes us become better at it, it is what makes us grow and there is no other way.
If you do the hit-and-run method, you come today and don't show up again till after many days, then be prepared to spend a very long time learning at a very slow pace.
Just like in all aspects of life, consistency plays a major role in music as well. Sometimes people think it is all about being talented or being skilled, yes that is a plus if you fall in the category but it is not all about being talented.
Music is for everyone and anyone can do it but it requires sacrifice. It is like a School on its own. If one is willing to pay the price and be intentional about learning, whether they are talented or not, they can have the skill.
If you can embrace hard work and consistency, the skill will become part of you. It may take some time but it is for sure.
I can attribute my growth in music to the power of consistency. Some years back I only sat and complained about how I did not know music, my friends would ask me to give it a try, and I would start for a while being serious then begin to go weak again.
Sometimes, I will practice once a week and then wait until I feel like it again. I spent years learning nothing and only seeing how complex it was. At a point, I concluded that it was not my calling but it was a lie, I was just being unserious.
Prior to last year, I couldn't sing any song from beginning to end, and I felt bad about it. Sometime last year, I decided to change everything and I assigned a time to practice every day, and today, I can sing more than ten to fifteen songs off-hand.
Consistency applies to music just as it applies to everything, those who understand how beneficial it is are using it to become better, and funny how those who refuse to embrace it are seeing them as some super beings.
In the music world, consistency is responsible for growth, excellence, and perfection. When you see a consistent artist these three things are always attributed to them.
If you observe their career, you will discover that growth is evident. They may start small but they won't stop there, they will be growing from one level to the other. This is because the secret of growth in life is tied to consistency.
The more you do something with discipline, turning up each day, the more you understand it better. It is just like the people around us, we get to know them better when we give them time and continually interact with them.
There has been so much consistency in the music industry, check how music is evolving from era to era and becoming better in each era.
There has been improvement in the instruments, and the pattern of songs and dances over the years and it has not stopped. That is consistency, It stands the test of time.
Some people wonder why some artists disappeared along the line and their songs became obsolete while others are still in the game and their music is still booming, the answer is clear, “consistency.”

We can become anything and learn anything in life if we decide to. The secret lies in hard work and consistency, if we can embrace them, then the result is sure with time.
