<center>**It started with Venus in Cancer**</center>

The procession of planets through Cancer this year started off with Venus -- back in late May and early June.  Venus in Astrology rules "things of value" -- like relationships and resources.  Cancer is the sign of deep feelings, home and family connections.  So, every year when Venus crosses through Cancer you renew your attachment to the importance of home-and-family in your life.  This year was no exception.

In Cancer, Venus formed trines with Jupiter in Scorpio on one side and Neptune in Pisces in the other.  Trines are positive aspects that show harmony and mutual support between the elements in the trine.

<center>**Improvements in things of value**</center>

**When Venus trines Jupiter:**

* It brings optimism, a positive attitude and a kind of blind faith that things are going to work out all right
* You put your best foot forward in social situations ... with a warmth that treats strangers like family
* You may reconnect with real family members in ways that benefit both sides
* You appreciate the values and assets your family and background give you -- how they made you who you are today
* If family relationships are strained or difficult, you may work through "old business" in memories, dreams or your imagination
* You have more tolerance and understanding for family members which can ease tensions -- or at least not make things worse

**When Venus trines Neptune:**

* It heightens your sensitivity and intuition
* It enhances creativity, feelings and artistic expressions
* Inspiration with style and grace comes easily
* You have stronger interests in culture and art
* You are more responsive to life's subtle dimensions
* Your spiritual beliefs and principles have more influence

<center>**Mercury followed**</center>

The next planet to cross Cancer was Mercury -- in mid-to-late June.  Mercury in Astrology is the symbol for your intellectual self, your conscious mind and communications skills.  In Cancer, it merges left and right brain functions so that thoughts and ideas are colored by feelings.  Your intuition is sharp and you speak and write with unusual sensitivity and warmth.

Mercury formed the same trines Venus did earlier.  This focused your attention on Cancer concerns ... and made you more aware of the work and changes in attitude Venus brought earlier.

<center>**Changes in how you think and react**</center>

**When Mercury trines Jupiter**

* Your attitudes are expansive and optimistic -- a glass-half-full perspective, for sure
* You share ideas and knowledge generously
* You may mentor or teach others who want to know what you know
* This is an energy of *big ideas* and enthusiasm -- good at drawing accurate conclusions and solving problems
* You're able to see The Big Picture of life -- and how you and your projects fit in it

**When Mercury trines Neptune**

* Your thoughts have exceptional generosity and patience
* You express yourself with an extra touch of grace and beauty
* Your spiritual beliefs color the way you deal with everyday experiences
* You see the art of life and logic everywhere
* Your insights may border on the psychic or prophetic -- things *make sense* in ways they normally don't
* You may get answers or new information that solves emotional issues in ways that foster understanding, acceptance and healing
* It's like The Cosmic Counselor is ready to talk and listen to all your questions and concerns -- and help put your mind at ease

<center>**Finally The Sun arrived**</center>

The Sun brought up the end of the parade in early July.  The Sun in Cancer *makes you aware* of the importance of roots, connections and "history."  You want to strengthen emotional ties to family members or people you've adopted along the way that are now "members of the family."  (We all know sometimes you have to go find your own family -- none of whom may be kin.)

*Home* means something special to you -- and your emotions and feelings are unusually strong -- on all topics.  Memories may pull you into the past so that "old business" can finally be put to rest ... and lingering injuries healed.

**When The Sun trines Jupiter**

* You greet the world with unusual candor, cordiality, warmth and generosity
* You set high goals -- and are confident you can reach them
* Problems either fix themselves or can be unraveled with minimal effort
* Your attitude is progressive and optimistic -- it's easy to "look on the bright side"
* You take a noticeably philosophical approach to life -- and may even feel protected or guided in the choices you make

**When The Sun trines Neptune**

* You have exceptionally fine perception and intuition -- and empathy
* Your idealism guides your decisions and choices
* Your spiritual principles are more than just abstract beliefs -- you are determined to live by them
* Creative efforts have a special poetry and grace ... and likely contains some inspirational theme
* Epiphanies are common

So these were some of the character changes the Cancer transits either introduced or reinforced in you this year.  But there are more details to add -- like the meaning of the Cancer / Scorpio trines and the Cancer / Pisces trines ... and the Scorpio / Pisces trines, which, of course, are part of the picture.  And then there's one final kicker.  I'll write about some of these next time.

Little by little, I'm doing a set of articles that talks about all the elements in your horoscope and what they have to say about you.  If you "know something" about Astrology -- or know something about your chart placements, that will help you get more from this material.

If you don't ... well, this is one place you can learn. We all have to start somewhere ... because we aren't born knowing this stuff. Meanwhile, if you've never seen your horoscope ... and don't have a clue how to work with it, maybe it's time to find out. There are lots of "chart services" on the internet -- some of whom produce decent, readable charts "for free" and some are so awful and confusing that even I can't read them easily -- and I've worked with charts for decades.

One extremely user-friendly chart site is here: [AstroLabe](https://alabe.com). I recommend them if you want a simple, easy-to-read chart. I think they even give a reasonable little interpretive reading of your horoscope as part of the package. You'll need to know your birth information -- day, month, year, ***time*** and geographical place. Without all that your chart will have limited accuracy.

Or, if you want to get serious and really talk about this, ***upvote this post*** and start a conversation in the comments section sometime in the next six days from the time of publication. We'll go from there depending on what you want to know.

<center>**About the art in our visual essays ...**</center>

Although sometimes the background pictures in our visual essays support the topic and text, they don't always.  Sometimes the connection is clear.  Sometimes it's symbolic and subtle.  Sometimes, there's no connection at all.  

The scenes depict landscapes and natural features, buildings and wildlife.  They were chosen because they show something lovely or interesting ... or simply because the photo appealed to me.

Our spectacular and remarkable planet is changing at astonishing speed.  Rarely are these changes for the better.  Few people seem to know ... or care ... or have the will and power to do anything about this.  It may not be long before the world humans have known and lived in for centuries is forever lost.  We certainly won't be able to make repairs as fast as we destroyed it.

So a few years ago I began collecting pictures of the way things were ... and still are for now, a record of the beauty we have while it is still ours to love and honor.

The photos here are part of that collection, with sincere thanks to the artists who saw these moments ... and with their cameras ... preserved them.   All of us at Enchanted Spirit are profoundly grateful to them for their generosity and skill ... and for the added grace, depth and dimension their art brings to ours.
