Doña Juana se levantó temprano y como de costumbre tomó el cuchillo para ir a recolectar sus legumbres que tenía plantado en su huerto, ese día el sol resplandecía y dijo: “es un buen momento para cosechar zanahorias y lechugas”. Cuando terminó, puso las legumbres recién sacadas de la tierra en su larga chalina para luego cargar en su débil y vieja espalda. Llegó al mercado y esperó a que un cliente le comprara sus verduras, pero en todo el día nadie le hizo una oferta. Doña Juana se sintió triste y decidió irse, regresó a su casa y dejó sus verduras a un lado, tomó unas patatas y un huevo y se hizo una simple y frugal comida.

Al día siguiente, la mujer nuevamente se levantó temprano para ir a vender sus legumbres, pero antes de salir, pensó: «voy a llevarme unas tortillas de maíz, no quiero pasar hambre de nuevo». Puso sus alimentos en una cesta y cargó sus legumbres en su espalda. Para llegar hasta el mercado, se demoraba tres horas, ya que la distancia del recorrido es de cuatro kilómetros, pero Doña Juana no se cansaba, pues era muy trabajadora y amante de su oficio, además que nunca se ha rendido ante las adversidades, ella tenía la esperanza que alguien se fijara en sus productos a pesar de que su puesto en el mercado era un pequeño espacio de vereda.  

>Doña Juana got up early and as usual she took the knife to go to harvest the vegetables she had planted in her garden, that day the sun was shining and she said: "it is a good time to harvest carrots and lettuce". When he finished, he put the freshly harvested vegetables in his long shawl and then carried them on his weak old back. She arrived at the market and waited for a customer to buy her vegetables, but all day no one made her an offer. Doña Juana felt sad and decided to leave, she returned home and put her vegetables aside, took some potatoes and an egg and made herself a simple and frugal meal.

>The next day, the woman again got up early to go sell her vegetables, but before leaving, she thought: "I'm going to take some corn tortillas, I don't want to go hungry again". She put her food in a basket and carried her vegetables on her back. To get to the market, it took three hours, since the distance of the route is four kilometers, but Doña Juana did not get tired, because she was a hard worker and lover of her trade, besides she has never given up in the face of adversity, she had the hope that someone would notice her products even though her market stall was a small space on the sidewalk.

Al llegar al mercado espero a que un cliente se le acercara a preguntar, pero nadie llegó, solamente era un día más sin suerte. La mujer se sintió más triste que el día anterior, y de nuevo decidió regresar a casa. Sin embargo, en el camino tropezó con un pequeño y hambriento perro. La anciana vio con ternura al animal y sonrió mientras lo acariciaba, y dijo: “No tengo el corazón para ignorarte, puedes venir conmigo”. Así que el animal, sin pensarlo tanto, siguió a la mujer.

Al día siguiente la anciana también fue al mercado, pero esta vez ya no estaba sola, tenía la compañía del perrito callejero. Cuando se dispusieron a organizar las legumbres en la vereda, la pequeña mascota comenzó a ladrar tan fuerte que llamó la atención de las personas. En ese instante, un niño bien güero, con un bonito cabello lacio, camiseta blanca y unos pantalones grises, quien parecía ser de una familia adinerada, se acercó a la anciana y le preguntó: ¿Qué vende usted señora? La anciana respondió: - Legumbres, nopalitos y papas. Luego de unos segundos la mamá del niño también se acercó y le preguntó: ¿Cuánto cuestan las papas, zanahorias y lechugas? La anciana le contestó: - Un dólar. El niño dijo: “Mamá, me los puedo llevar todos”. A lo que la mamá asintió. La anciana no podía creer lo que estaba sucediendo, y dijo: “¿De verdad los vas a comprar todos?”, el niño le respondió: “Si, ¿me los vende?”. “Claro que si mi niño”, respondió la abuela.

>When she arrived at the market she waited for a customer to approach her to ask, but no one came, it was just another day without luck. The woman felt sadder than the day before, and again decided to return home. However, on the way she stumbled upon a small, hungry dog. The old woman looked tenderly at the animal and smiled as she petted it, and said, "I don't have the heart to ignore you, you can come with me." When they set out to organize the vegetables on the sidewalk, the little pet began to bark so loudly that it attracted people's attention. At that moment, a little boy with beautiful straight hair, white T-shirt and gray pants, who seemed to be from a wealthy family, approached the old lady and asked her: "What are you selling, ma'am? The old lady answered: - Vegetables, nopalitos and potatoes. After a few seconds the boy's mother also approached her and asked: "How much are the potatoes, carrots and lettuce? The old woman answered: - One dollar. The boy said: "Mom, I can take them all". To which the mother nodded. The old lady couldn't believe what was happening, and said, "Are you really going to buy them all?", the boy replied, "Yes, will you sell them to me?". "Of course I am my boy," replied the grandmother.

Después de que el niño le compró todas las legumbres, la anciana le preguntó: “¿Por qué compraste todos si solo querías uno?”. A lo que el niño respondió: “Mi mamá y mi papá siempre me dicen que tengo que ser bueno con la gente, y comprarles sus productos para que ellos puedan seguir trabajando”. La madre del niño se llenó de orgullo al ver la nobleza que tuvo con la pobre anciana y lo abrazó. La anciana se quedó muy impresionada y le dijo: “Eres un niño muy amable, ¿cómo te llamas?”. “Me llamo Luis”, respondió el niño. “Muchas gracias Luis, eres un niño muy especial”, le dijo la anciana.


 

 

A partir de ese día, Luis y la anciana se hicieron muy amigos. El perrito se convirtió en el mejor socio para las ventas, poco a poco Doña Juana se fue haciendo conocida por sus productos frescos y cultivados con la mejor energía, el amor. Además, mucha gente quería conocer al perrito que vendía legumbres con una anciana.

>After the boy bought all the legumes, the old woman asked him, "Why did you buy all of them if you only wanted one?" To which the boy replied, "My mom and dad always tell me that I have to be good to people, and buy their produce so they can keep working." The boy's mother was filled with pride to see the nobility he had for the poor old woman and hugged him. The old woman was very impressed and said to him, "You are a very kind boy, what is your name?". "My name is Luis," the little boy replied. "Thank you very much Luis, you are a very special boy," the old woman told him.
 

>From that day on, Luis and the old lady became close friends. The little dog became the best partner for sales, little by little Doña Juana became known for her fresh products grown with the best energy, love. In addition, many people wanted to meet the little dog selling vegetables with an old woman.

Esta es una historia en donde el mensaje principal es: “la bondad que das a los demás es lo que recibes”.  Aquella anciana (protagonista de esta historia) decidió darle la oportunidad a la mascota de la calle, aun sabiendo que no tenía nada que ofrecer, más que su amor y compañía, así que después de una pequeña y noble acción las cosas solo fluyen y se acomodan para bien. Por eso cada acto que hagamos en este escenario tiene una repercusión en nuestra vida, sea que obtengamos algo malo o lo justo.

>This is a story where the main message is: "the kindness you give to others is what you receive".  That old lady (the protagonist of this story) decided to give the street pet a chance, even knowing that she had nothing to offer but her love and companionship, so after a small and noble action things just flow and fall into place for the better. That is why every act we do in this scenario has a repercussion in our life, whether we get something wrong or right.
