Looking At My Content Influence | October
<center>![twitter impressions.jpg](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmQPqNtrEX6osqYWcjVsmE6wiV49LDPWWdq2x9vq5Lbk5k/twitter%20impressions.jpg) </center>
It has been a couple of months since I’ve done one of these that last looked at how I was doing for March. October for me was a month I wanted to push on the main platform that I’ve been casually putting more and more time into driving traffic to my content on Steem. While also keeping up and expanding out other things as well.

# Changes
There have also been quite a number of changes since my [March](https://steemit.com/socialmedia/@enjar/march-or-looking-at-my-outreach) update.

* I stop trying to push traffic to a [Steem Dapp]( https://steemit.com/engrave/@enjar/4-months-of-using-the-engrave-dapp) that I was trying out
* I’ve rebuilt and expanded to other pages [my gaming index](https://steemit.com/index/@enjar/gaming)
* I also started to use a number of tribe tags and have been seeing success in places like Steemace
* I’ve targeted and try to predict certain trends
* I’ve expanded out the number of non-Steem Discords I’m in
* More focus has been put on content linking out to similar and older pages being updated
* I further developed my [Twitter strategy]( https://steemit.com/twitter/@enjar/why-you-should-follow-me-on-twitter) and have even moved beyond that

Quite a fair amount of this has been done just for SEO alone. It’s hard to really see the impact these things tend to have since I don’t have direct access to page views. I’m also not willing to pay $150 a month for services out there that might give me further insight. My numbers on single pages are also not big enough to be seen on a couple of free services I use.

There are also some things that I can take a further look at and that is where the rest of this post is heading.

# My Index On Steem
<center> ![index.png](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmWV8xh288CqQQdzxbv8eehDXwmC5AWvt2iq1HHLicJdzw/index.png) </center>
While it seemed almost like a waste of time at one point. I’ve started to see some strange activity that has indicated people are now using my [main gaming index](https://steemit.com/index/@enjar/gaming) beyond just me. I’m rather thrilled to see some growth in that part.

I myself use it as a quick way to find similar content that I’ve already created so I can link out to in other posts. It’s also been an easy way for me to find older content when I want to share it.

I’ve noticed a couple of votes landing on closed content. Many of it is months or older. The order those votes where coming in a couple of different instances seemed like someone found a section within my index and was going through what content I had for it.

There have also been a couple of times where people have reached out to me in discords regarding finding content easily in my index.

Then you have the instance where it’s getting to long so I need to create a new page such as my [Gaming Index | ARPGs And RPGs]( https://steemit.com/showcase-sunday/@enjar/enjar-s-gaming-index-or-arpgs-and-rpgs). Which presents a new opportunity for my older work to get discovered. Along with sharing it outside of Steem.

I’m rather thrilled to start seeing some usage beyond just myself. Even more so among non-Steem users that I’ve interacted with. I hope this continues to grow.

# Twitter
<center> ![oct numbers.png](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmSwFUDwZ3rB1Vi3wSMhjQKgyNmkH1cni8etp3MTR48JDX/oct%20numbers.png) </center>
October was a month where I put more effort than normal in trying to increase my influence on Twitter. I only have so much time per week I want to spend on things like engagement and growing out of my following. This is also why I only focus on a couple of places as I rather have something in the long run; instead of, a whole lot of nothing trying to keep up with too many platforms.

I have had a couple of months prior to where my numbers were slowly going down. I seem to go on these waves of putting in effort when I find the time. Then riding those waves till my number plummet. This you can see in the above screenshot that I was coming off a rather deep low.

I decided to adopt a more aggressive follow-back policy. While I’m not quite looking for the following 4 follow as I don’t want to be one of those 10k follower and follower accounts that are not targeting really any audience. While also getting very little in return for having those numbers. I do understand you need some numbers to get the ball rolling.

I also went in on a couple of accounts and started to follow a number of people from the Steem platform itself. The goal with that is to start getting on people's recommendation lists when they see a bunch of people they already know following me and so the same.

On top of that, I targeted and tested a few trending tags during the month of October.

Some of the more expected weekly hashtags like Monday motivation and Tuesday inspiration might get a lot of tweets to get into trending. They were however quite low on the impression and engagement. It seems people are just tweeting these trendy tweets but are not heavily searching for them. I’m going guess since those kinds of trending tags are predictable many just set up auto-tweet and not that many are around.

<center> ![fortnite tweet.png](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmRbSeNLaubetzX3gmXzGV1ni9z2Npy6tJH6ix8fwJVBhq/fortnite%20tweet.png) </center>
Fortnite was also going through a massive event that sent shockwaves through the gaming industry getting everyone's attention including mine. I sent out a number of tweets to test the waters and target that. I even played a game of Fortnite to join in on the fun that was going on. I had fun.

On top of that, there was also some other major news going down in the gaming world regarding Blizzard. At the time I was creating content for a game that could be a direct competitor to one of their games in the future so I took advantage of the situation and some tags.

I also changed up my profile a tad to include more information. After doing so I noticed indie game developer was finding and following me. Along with what felt like a higher engagement level between me and developer when I’d comment on a Tweet regarding a game.

While my goal is to keep it short and to the point. It seems it was too short before when someone would check out my profile. Now I hope it makes me easier for someone to decide if they want to follow or even find me. I don’t want it too long or people will not read the full thing.

<center> ![twitter link clicks.png](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmYrEtHLnWizVF62LzAStSipmNiYvqAj3XXYaidy92fLsy/twitter%20link%20clicks.png) </center>

Finally, I also noticed a higher click-through rate. I’ve had months in the past where I’d maybe only get twenty. 189 in a single month is quite a crazy month for me.

If I had a number of growing months like this one by this time next year I could have a decent-sized Twitter account. More importantly, it would have been built up in a way that should be driving traffic to my content.

# Non-Steem Discords
<center> ![sharing content on discord.png](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmSMMmSg5Dk8RaJ18XwoSEC6tT6Z5ggiuL3qrPHQ6PCd5u/sharing%20content%20on%20discord.png) </center>

While it’s hard to judge the impact sharing my content this method has unless I decided to start using a URL shorter where such information is gathered or I get some kind of engagement back. I feel anytime someone discovers Steem can have a positive impact.

Most people don’t know what Steem is outside of our bubble and this is just an amazing way to find new content consumers. People know there are other platforms out there besides Twitter, YouTube, Twitch, Mixer and so on. That can create a bit of FOMA when people realize they're a place to build yourself up before it becomes difficult to do so.

While I won’t be going out of my way to find new discords were sharing my content is acceptable and welcomed outside of our bubble. It is nice finding places where there are more content consumers than content creators and you are coming from a platform they have never heard about before.

# Steam Curator Program
<center> ![steam curator page.png](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQma2tnJ5tEVt5RKgkFr3Loqt6yDk5xXPkdesmzGCpP4BNv/steam%20curator%20page.png) </center>

It’s not that shocking I did not get a lot of impressions via this route. The curator program on the gaming platform Steam has been in my opinion rather neglected and most just don’t even bother with it. I just don’t have a following [over there on my page](https://store.steampowered.com/curator/34583404/) and so I don’t get much in return as far as driving views to my content.

There was also for well over a month where it was broken and the pages were all messed up. At least that is fixed now.

<center> ![steam app views influence.png](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmfRvDgSSWvFQU5VAYYkaQmaeJutrHMEpGfM7xnYryMNAs/steam%20app%20views%20influence.png) </center>
This to me could be an ideal place to share and try to get views to my content since it’s a platform of gamers and if you see a curator review chance are you are shopping to buy a game anyways.

The main issue is it’s only based on how big of a following you have if others are recommended you as a curator. This has led to a lot of people just spamming, trolling, and trying to get a meme out of there curation group having a lot of followers. Many are not reviewing the game they are just doing silly things. You also have the major gaming outlets over there and for a solo operation like myself, it’s hard to compete or even get noticed.

Perhaps one day they will get around to improving and having people who are at least trying to share reviews be seen better. For now, it will just be something I keep slowly building up every time I do a review on a game that’s also on Steam. Who knows maybe another major game selling platform will come out with a better program and I’ll switch over to that.

# Final Thoughts
I felt October was a decent month overall. I had some successes in driving more traffic to my content and growing things out. Some places where stagnant as well but I was expecting them to be. There are also other places and stuff I’m working on that I’ve left out of this post.

@sunlit7 ·
I was hoping to see you lurking about somewhere on here. Last week while pulling the garden out getting things ready for winter my grandson was out there helping me. I told him it was going to snow in a couple days so we had to get everything ready for winter to which he replied "so we are putting the garden to sleep".....lol, I got a giggle out of that, I told him yeah something like that.
