Hola amigos de Hive, hoy quise participar en el gran reto de hispaliterario con un cuento para niños.

Como todas las mañanas, Orejas, el simpático animalito que es la atracción principal del zoológico de esta enorme ciudad, saluda a todo su público lanzando un enorme chorro de agua con su trompa, algo que incentiva los aplausos de los niños que visitan el estanque donde se encuentra rodeado de un gran charco de agua. El joven elefante africano tiene una colorida isla llena de plantas hermosas, palmeras y tierra color naranja, sobre la cual ocasionalmente da vueltas para que se pegue a su piel cuando hace mucho calor, cosa que le gusta mucho a los visitantes lanzándole aún más manís de los que normalmente come como golosinas.

Un cielo azul despejado de cualquier nube y los rayos del brillante sol anuncian que se acerca la hora del mediodía y con ella su descanso de las actividades, por lo que puede regresar a la cueva artificial donde puede hacer una pequeña siesta, rodeado de los barrotes que esta colorida prisión de vida supuestamente saludable le ofrecen, en medio de un espacio que es lo único que ha conocido en toda su vida, ignorando por completo como es la vida silvestre y por supuesto lo que es la libertad.

Mientras camina con sus pesadas patas entre la tierra pantanosa, siente como una ráfaga de briza caliente del verano pasa sobre su rostro, llenando de polvo sus ojos, haciéndolo estornudar con su gigantesca trompa, produciendo involuntariamente ese sonido tan característico que tanto le gusta a los niños al compararlo con el potente silbato de la locomotora de juguete que da vueltas dentro del parque zoológico.

Aclarando su vista rociando agua sobre sus ojos, queda enamorado de las formas que hace en el viento un remolino de hojas secas que parece dibujar miles de cosas alimentando su imaginación, de la maravillosa visión surge una hoja más grande que se separa del remolino, es la hoja de una revista colorida que como por arte de magia se dirige directamente al estanque donde se encuentra Orejas flotando entre el aire como si fuera un pequeño barco sobre el mar.

La revista golpea al elefante directamente en el rostro casi como si le diera una cachetada para sacarlo de sus pensamientos tontos, Orejas agita con fuerza la cabeza y lanza el pedazo de papel contra el suelo dejando que los colores le muestren un mundo que hasta ese momento no sabía que existía, en la revista había fotos de elefantes caminando en las sabanas de África, algo que en principio no comprendió, pero que el reflejo de su rostro en el agua del estanque le hizo entender que él también era un elefante igual a los que caminaban libres en esas fotos.

A partir de ese momento Orejas nunca volvió a ser el mismo, se volvió un animal triste cuando descubrió que todo lo que había conocido hasta ese momento era una mentira, viejos recuerdos en su mente comenzaron a mostrarse como una nube de humo, dejándole ver como fue secuestrado cuando era tan solo un bebe, alejándolo de su madre la cual ya ni siquiera sabía cómo era y desde ese momento fue condenado a una jaula con barrotes de hierro donde estuvo dormido por varios días hasta que finalmente llegó al zoológico de la ciudad, algo que simplemente cambio el tamaño de la jaula y la hizo más colorida, pero igual de triste, ya que toda su vida estuvo engañado sin saber ni siquiera que era, ni de dónde venía y por supuesto tampoco conocía lo que era caminar con otros iguales a él en las praderas de África viendo los colores de un atardecer.

A través de esta historia, quise mostrarles lo que pienso acerca de los animales que son maltratados en los circos, o condenados a vivir en una jaula de colores dentro de un zoológico, que aunque les dan un mejor trato y comida, no deja de ser una jaula que limita su libertad con unos barrotes obligándolos a vivir lejos de su tierra solo para que los humanos puedan divertirse viéndolos y lanzándoles maní.

**Ears the elephant with a gray life in a world of colors**


As he does every morning, Ears, the friendly little animal who is the main attraction at the zoo of this huge city, greets his public with a huge jet of water with his trunk, something that encourages applause from the children who visit the pond where he is surrounded by a large pool of water. The young African elephant has a colorful island full of beautiful plants, palm trees and orange soil, on which he occasionally spins around so that it sticks to his skin when it is very hot, something that the visitors like very much, throwing him even more peanuts than he normally eats as treats.

A blue sky clear of any clouds and the rays of the bright sun announce that noon time is approaching and with it his break from activities, so he can return to the artificial cave where he can take a little nap surrounded by the bars that this colorful prison of supposedly healthy life offers him, in the middle of a space that is the only thing he has known in his entire life, completely ignoring what wildlife is like and of course what freedom is like.

As he walks with his heavy paws through the swampy earth, he feels a gust of hot summer breeze pass over his face, filling his eyes with dust, making him sneeze with his gigantic trunk, involuntarily producing that characteristic sound that children like so much as he compares it to the powerful whistle of the toy locomotive that goes around inside the zoo.

Clearing his sight by sprinkling water over his eyes, he falls in love with the shapes made in the wind by a swirl of dry leaves that seems to draw thousands of things feeding his imagination, from the wonderful vision a bigger leaf emerges that separates from the swirl, it is the leaf of a colorful magazine that as if by magic goes directly to the pond where Ears is floating in the air as if it were a small boat on the sea.

The magazine hits the elephant directly in the face almost as if it were slapping him out of his silly thoughts, Ears shakes his head hard and throws the piece of paper against the ground letting the colors show him a world that until that moment he didn't know existed, In the magazine there were pictures of elephants walking in the savannahs of Africa, something that at first he did not understand, but the reflection of his face in the water of the pond made him understand that he too was an elephant just like the ones walking free in those pictures.

From that moment on Ears was never the same, he became a sad animal when he discovered that everything he had known up to that moment was a lie, old memories in his mind began to show like a cloud of smoke, letting him see how he was kidnapped when he was just a baby, taking him away from his mother who did not even know what he looked like and from that moment he was condemned to a cage with iron bars where he slept for several days until he finally arrived at the city zoo, something that simply changed the size of the cage and made it more colorful, but just as sad, because all his life he was deceived without even knowing what he was, or where he came from and of course he did not know what it was like to walk with others like him in the grasslands of Africa watching the colors of a sunset.

Through this story, I wanted to show you what I think about the animals that are mistreated in circuses, or condemned to live in a colorful cage inside a zoo, that although they are given a better treatment and food, it is still a cage that limits their freedom with bars, forcing them to live far from their land just so that humans can have fun watching them and throwing peanuts at them.
