Autumn, Undoubtedly

This week I thought the cold is just temporary, we're getting a few chilly days, after which the warm weather can return. My mind still says T-shirt, when it comes to dressing up, but the weather says otherwise.

This morning was like 6C and was raining. Then the rain stopped and there was a crazy wind that was shaking the trees like crazy. I went for a walk as I consider good weather, if it's not raining.

This was the first scene I saw after exiting my apartment building. Brown and yellow leaves on the ground. The latest rains and winds shook the trees and bushes, now all the weak leaves are on the ground.

Went to a market, where the first scene I saw was this. This pumpkin means already autumn. Unfortunately it wasn't for sale, otherwise I would have bought it as I'd love to have one on my desk. We used to have small, colorful ones in the garden, but not this year. I need to make sure to sow some seeds next year as those look fantastic this period of the year.

These were brandies of different flavor. My relationship with alcohol is very special. I admire the package, the bottles, then I move on :) I rarely drink alcohol and when I do, I choose something lighter, not brandy. Therefore, if it's not for a present, I don't buy these, but I love to take photos of these shelves as they look good. Truth to be told, these bottles look good.

Then I saw these chilly peppers, which are not familiar here, but looked good. Once I saw a similar one at the supermarket, a smaller pot, but as I don't like hot pepper, for me this is just for entertainment purposes.

Then in the park I spotted these fungi, which is definitely not usual, but it may be because of the drought we are having each year. Basically where there's grass and plenty of water, there's fungi too. The last week we had plenty of rain and here it is, we have fungi too. I have no idea what kind of fungi is this, but would not collect them anyway.

Next I spotted this guy. He was having his morning walk and wasn't bothered at all by me trying to capture him.

Autumn here also means horse chestnuts. There's no autumn without them and I was happy to see some already in the ground. These little *brownies* bring back cool memories. We had a lot of fun collecting them when we were kids and each year I collect some and make a chestnut man.

This year I made two chestnut man. This one, the regular way, as we used to when we were kids. The difference is we used matches then and I used toothpicks now.

I think it is called Aster. I saw these the other day at the farmers market and wanted to have a bouquet on my desk.

Aster does not grow in any season as it's an autumn flower, meaning September, early October is the flowering time, this is why it is considered the flower for cemetery, wrongly though. We have All Saints day on the 1st November and Aster is one of the flowers we take to the cemetery. 

Winter is tough here, temperature could go as low as -25C, so gardening season goes from mid March to Mid October, roughly.

I was hoping we have a few cold days, after which we can have some mild temperatures, but it doesn't look like we're going to get it. 

I'm not familiar with Iran's weather conditions, but I know it can get cold there too. 

All we can d is enjoy every minute of good weather, till lasts.

Lol, yes, hours as they are slow. I have taken a few photo lately of snails and was testing them, to see if they hear or see or sense me getting closer to them with the camera. I had no trouble so far but I know if you try to touch them, they go hiding. We used to do that when we were kids. Now I just pick them up when they are on the sidewalk or road and put them out of the way, on the grass, somewhere safe.

Before I start, the pumpkin sure has a unique stance which I have never seen 😉 kind of unique btw. While change in seasons I usually love the experience. Overall, my favorite is the transition from summer to winter. Love that. While I need to take a break and give myself some time and enjoy being with the nature. Just nature and me, I do kind of miss it btw.

That pumpkin was indeed an interesting one. You can see a lot of types around this time, but so far I haven't seen such a big one. That's why it caught my eyes. I'm thinking of growing some in my dad's garden as I'm sure I could find buyers for those, just need to buy seeds 😀



I'm with you on the transitioning period. This is when I am charging my batteries for long and gray winter, by taking photos of autumn and enjoying the colors nature is giving us. There's nothing more relaxing than the chilly morning sun, among a bunch of yellow, red and brown leaves. I'm going to post a lot about this.

This year I had to realize abruptly, that this is the beginning of autumn already.

Autumn for me is Halloween and pumpkins. I love that period of time and how people decorate their houses. I remember we had special classes in school to do the pumpkin head and also to collect hte dry leaves of different shapes but also the chestnuts.

It depends on the culture. Halloween became popular in Europe a couple of decades ago I believe, but not in every country. In my country mostly school kids celebrate it, but no one goes knocking on doors to do trick or treat. 

We have [All Souls' Day](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/All_Souls%27_Day) on the 1st of November, this is an old tradition still living that will live forever. On this day we go to the cemetery as it's a day prayer and remembrance for the faithful departed.    

However, making pumpkin heads is an old way of having fun. I remember when we were kids, we went to my grandparents at the countryside and together we made pumpkin heads :)

I had to look up what a palm wine keg is and how it looks like as we don't have palms here, let alone palm wine kegs 😂 

We have cold winters, so no exotic plants here.
