Messy, But Amazing World Of Paint
Last week I think I broke my record an visited 6 (six) exhibitions in total. Usually I do this when I'm abroad, time is limited and I want to see everything. Last week I wasn't abroad (unfortunately), but we had a series of events in the city and with his occasion, we had a number of temporary exhibitions for a few days that I didn't want to miss.

One of the exhibition was in my favorite exhibition room, which is an old, underground parking. It's soooo cool, I have only seen such in the movies. This is basically an entertainment space, if you can call it that, as it is big enough for a conference and any event and it has a studio as well, for airing.

This is what the exhibition room looks like and I love it. How can you not? It's spacious, unconventional and cool.

It was a solo exhibition of Edit Vári Váncza a very talented painter, who has shown me another angle of abstract painting. 

I must confess, when i stepped into the gallery and saw so many colorful paintings, I was a bit shocked (I don't know if this is the right word) or confused, or scared, that I'm going to see some crazy, repetitive abstract art. Not that I'm against abstract, on the contrary, I love it, but this looked like something else.

This was the first painting and I wasn't really impressed, to be hones. Vivid colors, screaming. But I was wrong and the more I advanced in seeing all the painting, the more I was convinced I was wrong.

If you have a closer look and you don't let the colors blind you, you can see where the temptation is and what it is doing. It's a very good one and quite accurate as we have to face temptation every single day, one way or another.

This was a very good one. Can you see the two faces? How many people are like that? You never know which face they are going to wear. I was wondering if the colors have any meaning, like orange is the kind face and the blue one the angry face? I don't know, maybe I'm imagining it.

You have to look carefully and don't let the chaotic paint distribution blind you, then you see the meaning, or what the artist wanted to transmit to the viewer. I hope you can see the two persons.

*Elementary Force - 2025*

Apart from the vivid colors, what surprised me the most was so many paintings from 2025. I have no clue how much it takes to paint a painting of this size, it depends heavily on the artist and their mood, but still. Most of the paintings were 80cm x 120cm.

*Playing Our Lives - 2025*

The translation of the title is not quite accurate. Playing I meant as in *acting*, like you're acting in a movie, it's just that the movie is your life. I hope it makes sense. 

This is a painting you have to examine carefully, inch by inch, or centimeter by centimeter, to see all the details, have an idea about what the artist has detailed on the canvas, then take a step back and look at it as a while, with different eyes.

Look at these details, these are only noticeable, if you look closely and examine the canvas with attention. I think we can conclude that the paintings are exceptional, even though I would not choose them to be hung on my wall.

*In The Magic of AI - 2025*

This was a surprise. I've never seen any art related to AI. I mean, of course, there is AI created art and most likely there are AI art exhibitions too, but this is traditional art, not digital. I'll let you tell me what you see here. Let's have some fun.

*The Mind of the Artist - 2025*

This was actually a funny one, because of the title. Usually when people see a painting or a sculpture that is not ordinary, it is extreme, they say who knows what the artist had in mind, maybe they have gone crazy, which is never the case, of course, it's just a difference of opinion, or maybe artistic ignorance on behalf of the viewer. Here the painter has illustrated the mind of the artist. It doesn't say if it is hers or not though.

What do you see here? I see chaos and I think many times there's chaos in most of the artists' head, till they see the artwork heading towards completion. 

I'm really curious to see who likes this type of art as it's really particular. Let me know in a comment.

That AI themed painting stood out to me because it wrestles with chaos using a very traditional voice. I love your note about finding meaning once the noise settles, it mirrors how AI tools feel in real life. Do you think the title nudged your reading, or would you still read it as AI without it? Also, six exhibitions in a week sounds like a cardio plan I could actually enjoy.

I have a routine when visiting galleries. First I look at the artwork, try to see what it is, try to understand it, then i look at the title, which may change everything, or not. Here I would have never guessed that AI is involved.

That makes sense. Titles can tilt the mind a lot, so if you would not spot AI on your own, maybe the concept sits more in the framing than in the paint. After you knew, did any shapes or rhythms start to feel coded or network like, or did it still read as pure abstraction?

What a brilliant exhibition!!! I absolutely loved it!

In the last two works, I see chaos, a lot of chaos, but in the one about AI, I see robots, non-human figures that look like they've gone mad.

I appreciated both sides and it's very difficult to choose a favourite among them all. You know what? I have a friend who loves to see shapes and faces in art like this, he's fascinated by it, even in rocks and many natural formations. This art exhibition reminded me of him.

This is my favourite because of the quality of the detail, the shape of the faces. First, the bases and backgrounds are painted, and then colours are chosen to create the figures. A painting of the dimensions you mention will depend on the level of detail and the time the artist devotes to it. I suppose it could take several days.

I'm happy to read your comment as this was a difficult one and I'm sure you understand why I say difficult one. I was standing there trying to figure out what I was seeing and if you look carefully, after a couple of minutes, you start to see the meaning. 

Is your friend an artist? Is he also creating this type of art? 

There's way more to come and even more interesting ones. I was left with my jaw dropped, about how talented the painter is. You may think this is sheer mess, paint thrown at a canvas, but only those think this who can't see the meaning.

Wait till the rest is coming.

No, my friend isn't an artist, but he likes to analyse certain works of art, such as those by Jackson Pollock. He sees images that I don't even notice, but after looking closely, I do too. I'll be waiting for the new works!🤗

im not also a fan of abstract but this was kinda different, i mean you could see faces and stuff... if you just look blidly it's a mess of colors, you need to watch closely every detail

my favorite is Duality: blue is the evil part of us, orange the good one, for me

In The Magic of AI : there is a blue face on top left, it seems the AI to me, looking down at its creations, you can clearly see a sort of red clown or weird creature anyway

I am impartial when it comes to abstract and maybe I am more fan than I am not, but not every abstract art is appealing. It depends on the case. 

Duality is a good one and maybe if I'd have to pick one, that would be the one.

Oh my! I never saw anything special in these art works until I started reading all you have to say about your experience at the exhibition. My eyes were then oriented and I see things differently and better. I love artworks but I can rarely give a good meaning to it. I always end up surprised at what was in the artist mind creating such artwork. 

These are uniquely incredible. The ascension, duality, and temptation make sense to me because they were quite self explanatory but the others got me thinking really hard to understand. Especially “playing our lives”. 

Thank you so much, Erikah for sharing this with us. Your art work exhibition posts are always inspiring and exceptional.

This happens to so many, who are not used to *watching art*. I'm not going to say *reading art* as that's a vague expression and you either *read* what the artist wrote, or you read what you want, so it's not a good expression. 

This is the type or art, where details counts the most and these details make the meaning of the painting. You literally have to scroll though the *artistic mess* to find it.

I like how you admitted that at first the paintings didn’t impress you, but then they grew on you. That’s the magic of abstract art confusing at first, but later it really hooks you.

And, I think the underground venue made the whole experience even cooler. Art in unconventional places always feels special

You are right, one should not be blinded by the flashy colors and the "apparent" chaos that exists. The artist emits a message, he does it with awareness. This is abstract art with meaning, there are many elements worthy of highlighting that lead us to a message. a reflect on the life, the technological advances y the being human being.

In the mind of an artist there will always be many loose and perhaps disordered ideas and in that confusion there is genius. Thanks for sharing, art was made for contemplation.
