To Textile Or Not To Textile! 
Today I'd like to show you the rest of the photos I took at the textile exhibition, as I know a few of you are fan of this type of art. When I started posting about art, I've never imagined my posts could motivate readers/artists, to start creating or give ideas to them, but it's happening and I'm really glad to know that I could contribute to their success this way. So let's see what I want to show you today.

The photos are from the annual textile and fiber exhibition organized in my city, where there are around 70 artists exhibiting. You can imagine the variety of artworks you can see here. At first glance, my first thought was this is South America, but it was not. It's a wing.

This piece caught my eye immediately, partly for the color combination the artist used, and partly because of the materials used.

There's a bunch of colorful fabrics, lace, you name it, which can symbolize the colorful life we have (some, not all) and there are two chips as well, which I'm sure refers to digitization. The idea is brilliant and the execution is just the same. Art at the highest level.

Being about textile art, the question I always have in mind is *how it is made*. You can use stitches, you can use glue or you name it, but still, the method used defines the quality of the work in my eyes.

As far as I can tell, this is made by sewing machine and if you have a bit of experience with sewing machines and look at the photo above to see how detailed it is and how small those little people are, you can appreciate the level of difficulty and skills needed here.

I was speechless honestly. All I could think of how would I do it and how much time it would take me. You don't want to know the answer.

I love how the artist did not focus on perfection, it makes the whole artwork more original.

I had to write the Hungarian title, because this is a saying and I have to explain it to you. The saying means, *if it's not your shirt, don't put it on*, and it means, if it doesn't' apply to you, or if it is not about you, don't put it on or don't take it upon yourself.

This is hand painted with textile marker, or drawn if you like.

I was wondering, if the artist had a sketch, a draft before she started drawing on the shirt, or she just had an idea about what she wanted and went with the flow? The truth is, you can have a plan, but to create the same drawing and keep the proportions is quite impossible.

This part really made me think. If you live in Europe, close to the Ukrainian border, you feel the meaning of the objects and the words differently. I don't want to get into details as the post is not about this, but ... it's meaningful.

*Alexandra Andreea Vatra - Take the sewing soul of tradition*

For those of you who are not familiar with the culture, this is a traditional Romanian shirt, part of the folk wear.

The gentleman who has created the above artwork is an university lecturer. Shocking, isn't it? You would think textile artists are all women as they know how to handle textile, but as art had no boundaries and curiosity and talent can take you literally anywhere, here we are, we have the first gentleman with an extraordinary artwork. I love the style, It's unique. Look at how nicely the person on the canvas is *flowing*.

*Ilona Sajgรณ - The Model* 

There was no need to look at the artist's name as I recognized the style right away. A couple of months ago I saw a solo exhibition of Ilona Sajgรณ, an absolutely amazing exhibition and I still have photos to post. I remember this one and so many other lovely pieces. The lady is a very talented artist.

Look at how carefully those fabrics have been selected and all is hand stitched.

It's an interesting representation of the idea and the colors are perfect in my eyes.

Every time I look at your posts, I like this idea of textile art more and more, and I also think that the technique and development of the work, no matter how complicated it may be, plus the variety of materials used, contribute to its quality. True works of art.

When I saw the second one, I was amazed, especially by the amount of materials, the colours, textures and the borders you made, which are fabulous. I stared at it for a long time.

Then the third piece is impressive, but when the stitching is done by hand, I am simply speechless. A work of art that is worth seeing in every detail. Thank you!

Yes, this type of art requires a different set of skills but on the other hand, maybe it gives more freedom to the artist. You have a great variety of materials you can choose frome and sky is the limit basically.  

I'm liking it more and more and pretty soon I'm going to start creating my own textile art, but just for fun ๐Ÿ˜‰

The Solaris piece really fascinates me, I never knew that stitching can do a lot more when it meets art. This is pure art which I felt the methods combine with passion of the artist who made it are breathtaking. That art piece holds many stories and the design is very amusing I love it!๐Ÿ˜

I like the felting The Enchanted Apple and the stitched pattern Solaris.  I tend to look at the overall impression of the piece and then get drawn into the details and methods.  I suppose because I am an appreciator not a maker of this type of art.
