Remember the old Winamp music player? Yes, that player with llama as mascot. They used to be pretty big during the 90s and upto 2010. And then the streaming world took over and desktop players were slowly ignored.

Winamp struggled a lot as it was sponsored by Netscape, later AOL and then it went open source. And this journey for them was full of pain. And after years of hibernation they came back with desktop player revival. 

They recently announced the entry into Audio creator world with their new NFT and the monetization policies. Now they are going to make it easy for the Audio creators a lot easier life and ways to navigate with the income for their created content.

### How Winamp Works for Creators?

Let's assume you are a creator. You sign up at Winamp. Host your content. It gets played or used in the youtube or tiktok as usual. And you would be able to share the royalty with the platform. 

This would make the artist earn some royalty and their music gets used which often doesn't work unless they work with publisher. And it doesn't stop here, there are going to be other opportunities that open up which includes music management, promotion, airplays etc. 

All you need is signing up as a creator with them. You then upload the content and let the platform do the rest. You won't get rich obviously with the content. But it would not keep you starved if your content ever gets used on the web. 

### How does Audio NFTs work?

YouTube has the ID system which is kind of machine recognizing the tune and then sharing the royalty with the original owner of the music. This means the same can be done with the NFT system. Where your music gets the specific ID. 

And everytime your content gets moved and shared or even say purchased by the others. You earn the royalty through the blockchain system. You make some good money through NFT sells as the music travels on the blockchain. 

Audio NFTs are kind of a future especially on the Apple devices as the rich people use Apple and they tend to buy the NFTs and the revenue is generated in this flow. So you should think of this as an opportunity. 

### Does Winamp Model works on Hive?

If it can work on Ethereum, it would surely work on Hive. The thing is we already have the 3speak that is having this system. Only issue is that Hive lacks the exposure on the YouTube and so does the NFT based places. 

Like say Ethereum is dominant on the opensea but we don't have Hive there. The day we have that over there it would be possible for many Hive artists and the creators that would be able to store NFTs over there and generate revenue. 

Winamp model is still in early phase. How much revenue can be generated and how sustainable it is for long term is yet to decide. So we have to think of the Winamp model as in WIP aka Work in progress. Let's hope it works out for Creators.

A lot of companies in Music, Art and the Video industry would be using the blockchain to sell the value assets. As long as it is original and people wish to own it or get the permission to use it, there would be platforms to serve the purpose. 

Winamp model may work for the starving artists.
