Mmhh... I don't know. The problem I immediately foresee consists of abuses that could yield flag wars.

The upvote bots are rampant. These are mostly copycat projects. I dislike them and don't use them. People should put effort into good content and building an audience rather than trying jump the queue to get ahead.

A down vote bot... hmmm... could end up in a proliferation of these things and end up in an Armageddon.

I've been paid to flag spam before, but a service where you sell downvotes indiscriminately?  I don't think that would go down well.

Here's the thing... the urge for destruction is a creative passion. 

I think it would be an interesting phenomenon but it's hard to see the value proposition for participants unless it were marketed as a voluntary network designed to protect the platform from egregious behavior.

I mean... given the right circumstances, I'd donate monthly in a patreon like program to support keeping the obvious plagiarism off the blockchain.

We have the freedom to do what we want here. If there's a market for something then someone will cater for it. I just think there are better profits to be made later if we concentrate on growing the platform for a while. I'll flag spammers for nothing if it helps

I’m not a fan of the downvote but I am definitely not a fan of the pay for upvote services. I don’t think they really help minnows or make the Steem community more social. Maybe creating a bot hat posts after each upvote bot post explaining why it’s a not a good thing to do.

It might be beneficial, but abuse of such a service might be destructive in the long run. If such a service can handle that aspect then it might be beneficial
